  So, as some of you know, the bonding between Gus and Isabella was not reallly working out. So when I found out that the bunny Gus had initially shown interest in was still at the shelter, I took him back for another round of speed dating and now without furthur adew meet Helen!!

  aww, they’re going to be a handsome pair. sometimes it just doesn’t work when trying to bond, so i hope things will work out better with Helen.

  so cute! i’m curious… what is this ‘speed dating’ you refer to? are you totally kidding & i’m just not getting it, or did you actually bring Gus to the shelter & put him nose to nose with the buns? i’m thinking of rescuing a bunny but am a bit worried about the whole bonding thing.

  Things are going great!! There has been some cuddeling, some grooming and a little bit of chasing (all in good fun) I think Gus and Helen are a great match and it will be no time at all before they are an offical couple.
  
  Babybunsmum….speed dating is when you take your rabbit to a shelter/rescue and let them pick there favorite. I took Gus to the rescue and put him in a pen with about 7 different girl bunnies. Between me and the ladies working at the rescue we were able to narrow it down to the ones that Gus seemed to get along with the best. There were a few that you could tell right off the bat were the wrong fit. But once Helen and Gus were together you could tell right away that they liked one another. If there is a rescue near you find out if they will let you take your bun with you. It has really made things easy. No fighting (knock on wood) and a much smoother transition.
  I know a lot of other people here have down it and work at shelters that do it, so I’m sure all of your quetions can be answered.

  what a great idea! when i know baby has bounced back from her surgery (wed) i shall investigate this possibility. so glad that your ‘couple’ is bonding well.
