Yes, at school isn’t an issue. My rabbits don’t come out of their sleeping area until about 5pm anyways. And beyond just losing affection there is the risk of – loss of litter habits (meaning extra smell, a ton more cleaning, possibly having to build an exercise area that won’t get stained by urine), potential for illnesses to become very pricey (that bacterial infection just became x2, twice the vet bills), potentially months of bonding (with two cages etc), the possibility of the bond breaking during their life together (meaning rebonding), potential of a serious injury from a fight (upwards of $700 to repair if it’s serious). Also, what are you doing with all these pets when you go to college (if you plan to go?). Most affordable college areas don’t allow pets.
Be aware of these risks and if you are willing (and able, a $1000 vet bill is hard to cover while still in school) to take on the responsibilities then write down a plan and take it to him. If you come at it business like with a plan in hand, he’s probably going to be more willing to accept that you know what you’re getting into.
