Convince my landlord to let me get a bunny

Hey there!

My boyfriend and I live in an apartment and we both really want a bunny. We’ve had them before but it’s been nearly two years since Poptart. Before, we didn’t ask for permission and sadly had to have her put up for adoption. So this time we asked, and my landlord said he’d think about it after asking if he/she would be in a cage (we said yes, of course), so we were certain it would be a yes, but then yesterday he said no. He said that because the rabbit couldn’t be caged all the time, he would poop everywhere. My boyfriend told him that they can be litter trained, their poops are easy to clean up but he didn’t get a reply. 

Our landlord really likes us so I think he can be persuaded, but I’m unsure what to say. My boyfriend had already told him how they aren’t noisy, they’re clean, don’t do damage (well, not much anyways…) and that if there was damage then we of course would pay for it.

I have done two different courses on animal care, which I feel I could use to my advantage somehow. I just really want a rabbit, and I hate having to ask for permission when I’m in my 20’s

I can see his hesitation. They do cause a lot of damage if they want to. I have a few tennis ball sized holes in the carpet where one of our bunnies decided to pluck all of the carpet out. Its all in one area, but theyll have to replace the entire carpet when my boyfriend, our bunnies, and i move out. Its in our lease that our down payment covers pet damage so we wont be paying for it later, though. And although their poops are area to clean, marking can be very hard to get out. Specially if they mark somewhere that you cant normally reach/see everyday. It can stain carpets and walls if not cleaned immediately, too

You might be able to convince him to let you both adopt an adult rabbit who is spayed/neutered, though, because being fixed usually eliminates the marking/pooping all over/aggression/destructive things rabbits do
