Does anyone have any recommendations for a hard sided carrier for a giant? I need one big enough so that my mini lop can fit in there with her when travelling to the vets etc. For a better idea of size, Freya is about 2.5ft long and weighs 6kg and Tyb is around 1.5 ft and just over 2kg.

I’m based in the UK and some of the ones I’ve seen on Pets at Home worry me because the handle doesn’t seem sturdy and they’ve had bad reviews so any recommendations are appreciated thanks!

Not sure what is available to you, but perhaps look into a larger carrier that you could add a wheel system too…luggage/golf bag thingy.

Hope that made some sense.  Tired, brain not wanting to work!

I would look for a large cat carrier or one for a small dog. A wheeled one is a great idea as I’m sure they would make your arm tired!

With bun carriers, it’s OK and actually safer if they are pretty snug in there, because sliding around can cause injuries.

Thanks both! I didn’t even think about the possibility of wheeled carriers, that’s great! the carrier I have was always nice and snug for Tyb and Freya when she was small but I’ve not needed it for a while and now she can just about get her head in 🙂

Theres an abundance of material ones but Freya is a chewer so that’s a no go… I’ve found one that has reasonable pricing and I can just stick wheels on the bottom but I’m unsure which size is suitable.

the medium is 51x68x47H cm and load capacity is 10kg.

small is 40x61x41H cm with load capacity 7kg

the small size one sounds better but the capacity seems low. I suppose if I put the wheels on and it’s on the ground/a surface most of the time it should be okay right? The medium sounds way too big?

How long is Freya when she’s laying down? I would opt for which ever one she could lay down in.

She prefers to keep her legs tucked in when lying down but she’s about 60cm that way sooo the medium carrier it is, thanks!

Her carrier came! It’s pretty big but good for her I think as her poor ears don’t get squashed when she stands up and there’s good room for Tyb as well 🙂

She’s SUCH a pretty girl and I’m sooo very grateful she’s a cuddly bun! I feel like over the last month or so she and I have really truly bonded, she will come and lay down between my feet or snuggle up to my thighs and stay for AGES and she always returns kisses – an absolute sweetheart of a bunny <3
