Well about 400 some odd zip ties, four blistered fingers, 42 cube panels, broom, four carpet squares, 3 grass mats, and one large carpet later, the boys have a new apartment. Coney is the only tenant right now until I can get them bonded. ( I figured this gives me more time to work on connors bathroom issues)
Dollar tree had packs of two carpet square for 1.00 that fit width wise just perfectly, I just cut the second one in half to cover the whole shelf. I also got the closers and the broom from there. I just unscrewed the broom part and cut the handle to length and then zip tied it to the bottom of the shelf. It works great. I also found really cool things for hay racks. They were in the kitchen and bathroom accessories section at fred meyers. They are metal with plenty of large holes in them. They suction to the wall to hold the soap and dish rag, and then the large one is a corner shelf that suctions to the bathroom corner (shower). I just took the suction cups off, zip tied the smaller ones to different levels of the house, and the large bathroom holder I stuck in the corner on the bottom next to the food bowl. Oh I also got lineloium (sp?) for under the litter box, food bowl and large hay bowl. He made it up to the second level but got nervous on the ramp with the grass mats.

LOL 400 zip ties later. Oh that is SO true! It looks great! The ramp might be a bit too steep for your fella so you might want to make it longer as you said he shied from it. Or you can make an "L" and create a "step" too. : ) Those are just some ideas in case he doesn’t warm up to the ramp. I’d like to see the "hay racks" that you improvised with!Ooo too funny I was writing a reply and posted just after so I did not see your latest response, that’s great he is zooming up and down the ramp! Some placemats you can find are the all natural wood ones and also plastic. I would avoid the rubberized ones.

here is what I am using fot the hay racks. The large triangle one is "downstairs" and then there is a smaller one on each of the upper levels. I made the downstairs completly open because I know connor won’t be able to jump up to the other levels and I wanted him to have as much room as possible (when he moves in) coney is small and got springs for legs. He is jumping just fine up to the first and then running up the ramp. He even leaped from the top level down to the second one (without using the ramp), it about gave me a heart attack.
Before he went down the ramp the first time he shoved his teddy down it, kind of like " you think it is safe first"

Hahahaha thats a smart idea to shove the Teddy down! Kramer makes Juli go down off the ledges first. Then he ggoes next and usually lands very ungracefully on top of her. Don’t be too concerned about them hopping from level to level, the usually land it OK
My bunnies do this all the time. The only thing to worry about is when they get too confident and start leaping in place the shouldn’t, example: Raymond now hops without looking and has ended up stuck in open boxes!
