So I have a very skittish bunny who currently resides in an puppy x-pen (4×4 feet). He spends most of the day sleeping out of his cage in his maze haven because I work from home and am here most of the day. I adopted him a month ago from a local rescue. He’s about 2 or 3, neutered male.
If I ever drop or bump ANYTHING he really freaks out. He normally will sprint into his cage and hide in his little hidey box and thump at me. He calms down eventually (treats help), but it takes time. And he freaked out so bad a week ago that he got his little head stuck in his cage (I posted about this here, and have taken steps to prevent that in the future). I want to help him feel more secure and safe so he doesn’t lose it every time there is a loud noise. It would also help this stressed out bunny mama. I really worry about him when he so scared.
He is a lover. He adores to be pet and groomed and he will groom me in return quite often. He’s a great eater and generally happy.
Would a 2 story condo be better for him? I’m wondering if a little less open space would help him feel safer when he’s inside. I’ve considered bonding him in the future, but I don’t know how well he would do on a date. I want to give him more confidence. The condo was just an idea. Thoughts?
Thank you for your time!
