Completely Free Range?

 Hey everyone! I was just wondering about when it’s a good time to let your bun be free range 100% of the time, even if you aren’t home. Hazel is nearly perfect at using her litterbox (and just think, a month ago I was tearing my hair out before she was spayed!!!), and doesn’t really get into anything when she’s out, which is when I am home (including nights). Do you think it’s ok that I let her be out constantly, even if I’m not home? There isn’t anything she could get into, and she doesn’t really chew or dig the carpet now that she’s allowed out most of the time. I tried letting her be out all day today while I was at school, and everything was perfectly fine when I got home. Do you think that I should just continue and see how it goes? She’s such a good girl and I know how much she likes to be out; I don’t see a problem, but I just thought I would ask!

As long as everything is definitely bunny proofed, I’d say go ahead It will make her happy also lol. My bunnies have free roaming of over half the house 24/7 together now, they’re doing really well with it.

If she’s spayed, mature, and behaving well, you can definitely start free-ranging her more. Sounds like you have the right idea…make sure everything is bunny-proofed or blocked off, and just slowly increase her free time. Depending on the layout of your living space/where she’s allowed to go, you might have to get another litter box or two…just watch her habits .

Yes, she’s spayed and 2 years old. I actually only have a small, one-bedroom apartment. I started letting her be free range in the living room a long time ago, and she did great with that. I decided to let her run around the house when I was home, and she also did fine. I finally let her in my bedroom, and she especially loves it in there. I have recently started letting her be out all night, and she has been amazing. She mostly lays on a footstool at the end of my bed; when I wake up during the night she’s usually sitting right there looking back at me =) When I get up she jumps down, follows me to the living room, and sticks her head in her pellet bowl! Such a little pig! I have a few litterboxes set up throughout the house, but she seems to like only one of them, and uses it religiously. I have only seen a few pellets here or there, so I’m really happy. Everything is up and out of the way that could hurt her, and the apartment is so small that I can see or hear her from almost anywhere. I think that since she has free range of the house during the days when I’m home and at night I might as well try out letting her be out even if I’m not home. She’s such an amazing little thing – the other day I was napping on the couch and woke up to her climbing on my chest, licking my nose! Adorable. I’m in bunny love.
