Coming out of the shadows..Hi everyone!

Hi everyone! I am new as in this is my first post but not new to reading and researching here. Absolutely LOVE this place and very thankful for it! I never imagined there was such a science to raising a heathly pet bunny. But thanks to everyone here I am getting more and more educated on the subject.

After my daughter’s hamster passed away from cancer, 🙁 we decided on a bunny. My niece has one and my daughter was so in love with hers. Well… I never knew I was a bunny person, lol. I’m pretty sure I am more of a bunny person than my daughter is. I can totally, and have many times already spent hours handing out with “Miss Athena” (I just call her Bunny, so orginal I know). I swear when my kids are off to college and I have empty nest syndrome I will be the “crazy bunny lady” instead of being called a “crazy cat lady”.

Without further adieu, meet the bunny who stole my heart..

This was the day we brought her home. She had one year that stood up until just a couple of weeks ago. It really fit her personality.

Thanks everyone! I have been contemplating on trying to convince my hubby of getting another bun as a companion. Athena can be quite the naughty bunny when out and about. I’ve had to bunny proof my house like I did when my girls were babies, but she always seems to find something to get into or under. She LOVES getting under the bed, which at first my daughter had blocked off and Miss Athena was not happy about it. There isn’t anything for her to get into under the bed but once she is under there she doesn’t like to come out unless she is ready to. We found out the other day that she is a jumper. She jumped from the floor onto my daughter’s bed. That’s a good 3 feet!

They do like being under beds, it’s a bit like being under ground in a rabbit warren and it probably speaks to their deep rabbit instincts. We’ve heard of bunnies that resolutely park themselves under the Christmas tree and refuse to leave that perfect spot, and I think it’s the same general idea.

Welcome! My husband and didn’t know we were bunny people…..now we have nine bunnies! Not that I recommend that to anyone!!! Lol. They steal your heart so easily.
