Good morning,
Over the past several weeks, my bunny (who is 8 years old) has been working through a respiratory infection and gi stasis. She is now at a point where the medications are working, and she is happier because of that.
She has lost weight (which the vet it working on bringing back up), and has lost some of her strength too (due to the illness and being an older bun). As such, I have taken out the small wooden house that has always been in her cage, so that she will not injure herself by jumping onto it or off of it.
She has no problems getting into or out of her litter box, so that is still in her cage unmodified. Where her wooden house used to be, I added a lot of hay, so that she can lay there and be comfy. That house was always her place to relax though, so I feel bad about taking it out!
Should I give her some sort of bunny bed, a towel, a fleece sleeping pad? I don’t want to give her something with strings or fibers that she might chew on and ingest… but I -DO- want to give her as much comfort as possible! Do you have any suggestions of good rabbit beds or blanket products; or can you point me to a website that sells rabbit-safe things like this?
Thanks in advance!
