I woke up this morning to bits of foam chewed off the ends of the foam mats that I used for the floor of his bunny cage.  I had to go to work so I just covered the foam floor with ceramic tiles that I had.  What if he ate some foam?  Is he going to be okay?

Guess the foam mats weren’t such a great idea afterall.  And I thought I was being so smart.  lol

Since you were off to work you probably didn’t get a chance to look closely, but its likely your bun may have chewed the foam but not actually eaten it. Many bunnies like to shred/chew/tear apart flooring (and other things) but not actually eat them. I think it is either a form of bunny entertainment, or a form of bunnies reminding us that they will decorate how they want too…

When you get home tonight try giving your bunny some pellets or some of his favorite food just to make sure that he is still eating, and then keep an eye on him and make sure he is pooping and eating regularly. If he is NOT, then he may have ingested something and if he does not eat or poop at all then you will need to take him to the vet.

I’m having some of the same thoughts at MooBunnay – chewed but not eaten and follow her advice.

well, sometimes it’s hard to guess what they’ll decide to chew, so don’t feel bad. I’m glad you noticed he was chewing it and were able to cover it over with the tiles. Tonight, look around for lil foam pieces. How much of the foam was chomped? MooBunnay is right – he might have chewed it, but not actually eaten it. But, if he isn’t eating or pooping normally get into the vet right away.
