comb/brush suggestions

I can’t get the search option to work.  The multiple molting is killing my allergies!!!  What is the comb or brush that people recommend?  I have a furminator, but I find it too harsh for the buns…the cats well that’s another story.  I often just pluck them, but I need something easier.  HELP b/f I shave them bald!!!!!

Hands down- the Hair Buster comb.  Here is their website- http://www.hairbuster.com/     I can’t remember where I ordered mine from- I know it was not the website directly it was a rabbit supply place.  I think that you would want the short hair comb- as that is what mine looks like- and the bunny places only sold one type as I believe they only had one original design.  I am sure I order other stuff along with the comb- but I can not remember where the heck I got it from.

This comb works awesome- the “rubber inset” on the teeth gently pulls out the loose hair.  Work great on my cats too- all short hair.  I don’t use it on my long haired dogs ever- but it might work.  And it hold a majority of the hair on the comb so you have to pull the hair off as it gets “clogged”- but that means it is not sending all the hair up into the air and making a huge, huge mess like the Furminator and Zoom Groom sometimes can.  My bunnies do not care for the Furminator either- the cats like it though.

I love this comb so much that if I found out they were going to stop making them I would buy another 4 to stock up to have in the future- in case I lost one, etc.

I’m pretty sure that’s what everyone’s been talking about.  I’m going to have to get this.  I had to pluck this weekend.  DH hates the plucking, but I can’t seem to get all the excess fur out otherwise.

I tried few different kind of combs for my rabbit. Nothing works. The best way is to wash your hand with water and pet rabbit. It will add up fur on your hands.

If I see loose fur, I pluck them.

Before summer of 2009, my rabbit used to have TOO MUCH loose furs. I kept pulling fur off him everyday (twice a day) for estimate 14 days. Then Romeo didnt have any loose fur.. until now.. I’ll have to do that again

taurus, sounds like a shedding cycle. buns will shed all their fur a couple times a year, but shed minimally the rest of the year

I’ve said it before on here, and I’ll say it again. I have a rex and she is molting right now. She’s 4 and since she was a baby, I’ve used the masking tape lint brushes on her. You know, the kind you get from the dollar store?? Seriously, it pulls out the fur effortlessly, rolls over her (I think she thinks it’s a massage or something, because she loves it) and doesn’t cause the hair to fly around the room aggravating my allergies and asthma. Just a thought!

Oh dmj that sounds like a good idea.  Especially for allergy sufferers

Personally I use the hairbuster and the slicker brush.   It works great on my long hair bunny too.  On her I use a slightly spaced comb b4 brushing to get the tangles out.

Yes plucking.  I love plucking.  Mine hate it tho.   OH the furminator yes I have used it and made some rashes on my Cotton Boo so I won’t use it anymore.

I should put it on ebay for sale. Or craigslist or something.

I have a furminator & I use it on my cats.  I tried on the rabbits and I found it too awkward to use.  Cats have more flat space to make better use of it.  Not sure if that made any sense, but rabbits are just more compact.  I will use my roller on them, but I’m not sure it will be as effective as a good pluck!  I’ve also tried vacuuming them.  Jessi gets ticked off and tries to attack the vacuum…silly rabbit!

My Lionhead’s biggest problem is his “dust ruffle” it gets long and shaggy and it never seems loose enough to pluck.  I’m definately going to buy the comb.
