Clover meets Tovah

Here is a video clip of one of my dogs, Tovah and Clover meeting last weekend. This is from my facebook site.

The dogs and Clover see each other through the gates everyday and are rewarded. The dogs are taught downs. We’ve been doing this for a few months. I knew Tovah would be fine with her, so I had her on leash and will for some time when she is with Clover, mostly because she wants to play–has pawed Clover’s head, play bowed etc.  Tovah is used to playing with dogs of all sizes–some as small as “snorkies” and dachshunds, and she is gentle. As you can see Clover decides she wants to she wants to check my shoe out, the leash, etc.  LOL

Anyway, it’s all a gradual process.

Please ignore the taping.  I’m still getting used to this handycam.

RabbitPam for letting me know. It clearly show ups on my computer and plays as an embedded file. I tried to directly upload it as an attachment, but only got errors. Hmm.  Let me check my privacy setting on FB and see if that changes anything.  I switched it to everyone.  Maybe it will play now?

On a side note, I happy to see that I am not the only one who says thank you to their pets when they obey. LOL I have no clue if it makes a difference with my rabbits (probably not), but when I tell them no and to move away from something and they do, I tell them thank you. Yes, I’m weird. lol

Hey Everyone,

Glad that all could see it now. Thanks for the compliments. Tovah, my youngest, I really raised to be gentle with other animals. At a very young age, I really exposed her to all different animals–baby birds, grasshoppers, snakes, turtles, etc. Now, I will say, she is a mole hunter and like sto go on “mole patrol.” But she in no way tries to harm, just plays with them. When I catch her, however, I ask her to leave it, and she does.

Bunbuns1, it is pure habit for me. I tell all the dogs I’m working with and Clover “thank you.” I think it makes a difference.

Kokaneeandkahlua, yes, I do use the clicker. I use it for new behaviors and then eventually drop it and use a verbal cue word to mark behaviors. I think animals respond fastest to it, and they really do enjoy it. Btw, I have some new videos I took this weekend, so I’ll try to embed those as well at some point.
