My husband thinks I’m clearly crazy, but I was wondering if it’s ok to put those cutsey little clothes on bunnies if they don’t mind. I realize that some would be totally intolerant, but if Freya doesn’t mind is it ok to play dress up on her? (Ok, maybe he’s right and I am clearly crazy, who in thier right mind puts clothes on a bunny?)

          Hi, Adelaide,
I would discourage you from doing it. Bunnies are not happy in clothes, and only a few people who take pictures and take them off immediately do it that I know of. There are some risks, since Freya may struggle to get out of them, get tangled or choke on a garment around her neck or legs. They are such delicate creatures that she could hurt herself.

Think of it this way, she’s already wearing a stunning fur coat!

I’ve seen some cute little bunny clothes before myself and thought the same thing – but have never put any on my bunny just because of the things that Rabbitpam mentioned. I would be nervous that they would get scared and run away with whatever clothing is on them, and it could get caught on something and injure them or choke them. If a bunny feels in danger, he or she might do a lot of frantic things like kicking or struggling to injure themselves as well.

If you’re looking to take cute photos, it can always be fun to set bunnies up with some different props, like a beach photos with a beach ball and other beach items, or holiday themed photos with holiday items in them.

LOL :~) I’m not an advocate of dressing animals up – I think it’s a bit corny and I also think animals don’t feel comfortable in these outfits.

I wanted to do the same thing, if only for one quick picture. I however, can’t even get the little harness thing on my bun without him going nuts and growling.

I’m keeping it in hopes that when he his a bit older he may tolerate it.

Buns can also overheat very easily, so that is another thing you’d have to be very careful about. They’re already wearing a “fur coat” so they may be more sensitive to the extra layer than people are.

Like the others said, if you were to do it, you’d have to supervise the entire time and be quick about it, just a few pics and then take it off.

No not crazy, you just desire an overload of cuteness
However the closest I think we will go to clothes is a harness/leash one day….

I don’t think Nova would tolerate it and for some reason I don’t feel the need to put anything on Hubble. I would be tempted to tie a bow on Nova’s ear or even loosely around her neck for a picture or two but I would have someone else there holding her and only removing their hands for the second I took the picture. I suppose I like them being naked and natural anyways.

Plus it doesn’t hurt that I have 3 chihuahuas to dress up as I please as well as dressing up my corgi mix for Halloween costume contests. My dogs are all very tolerant of it and even enjoy it as I make the clothing myself so it fits them comfortably. Thinking about it though, I did train my dogs from a very young age, and dogs are WAY easier to train than rabbits, especially rabbits that are already adults.

I have to agree with others, even though it sounds SOOO cute, I know my Oreo would NEVER tolerate it, he doesn’t like me picking him up to go back to his cage, or picking him up to take him out of his cage, I always get upset to, because he kicks so much, and its so easy for them to hurt themselves.

I agree with everyone too. My buns freak out if you try and pick them up maybe not at first but quite soon after! I would feel bad having to force them to wear something that they didnt like. I worry enough about SOMEDAY trying to put them on a leash. I get so nervous about that even! I guess I have never been a huge fan of pet clothing, it depends on the situation and the animal.

But I’m one of the lucky ones, Felony trusts me more than anyone else and I can pick up all the time without him freaking out or struggling. I’ve put clothes on him a few times because its hilarious. He tolerates it, but I usually take it off soon after I get my laugh.

Hooty – that first photo with him all stretched out looks like shirt was just put on him and he’s saying….”wha…what jus happened to me?”

I have been wanting to do that too.  Some day I will make time and go to a thrift store and find ruby some cute clothes.  Cotton I think he would be totally upset.

Ruby she tolerates all sorts of stuff.  She should do fine.
