Ive been thinking about trying to clickertrain my two boys.  In my head it seems like a win-win for both of us.  They will learn cute tricks, we will spend more interactive time together, and they will get some rewards/clicks/treats.

Wondering if anyone on here has clickertrained their bunny, how it went, and any other thoughts on the topic!!

Rachel, I did it with Lint when he was my only bun. It was such fun, but I didn’t keep it up over time. He became very greedy about the associated treats and he’s only little, shouldn’t eat that many treats. The clicker I had sounded like a shaker sound, like a vitamin bottle’s sound… so to this day (it’s been a year) when I take my vitamins and Lint is near I have to do it very quietly; if the bottle makes the slightest sound (pills moving inside) — he will come racing and begging and be so disappointed!

ooo I’m interested in this too! I can get Chubs to come to me when I call his name now, (well most of the time- when he thinks I have a craisin for him!) but I’d like to teach him and new bunny, more tricks!

I’m in the process of clicker training Otto. I “charged” the clicker for a week by just clicking and treating over and over. Then I started teaching him to stand on his hind legs. He learned to stand up very quickly (within the first or second session), but he’s a bit stuck on learning to do the trick only on command. He’ll stand up over and over and get frustrated when he doesn’t get a treat. Haha. He doesn’t quite get that he only gets a treat if I tell him to stand up first. But I was surprised at how quickly he learned the trick at all! I think once he gets the command-means-action sequence he’ll learn new things even faster.

I’m also hoping to use the clicker to train him to allow us to clip his nails, go back to his cage, etc. If I can get him to do these things willingly, that would be even more rewarding than teaching a few tricks!

ETA: Clicker training does require the use of quite a few treats (because at first you need to click every time they do the action, and every time you click you need to treat as well). I use simple pellets because any other treats would get excessive. I just take a bunch of pellets out of his normal food and use that for training. He gets dinner at 10pm when we go to bed, so when I train him in the evening he’s hungry and very interested in pellets. I also use a regular clicker I got at a pet store, but I’d like to get the i-click on Binky Bunny at some point. It’s easier to click when you’re not constantly flipping the clicker around to get it in the right position.

I’m in the process of clicker training Mr. Bunny. Personally, I think it’s really cool to be able to train a bunny! Within 1 week of working with him, I could say “Touch” and he would hop across the room to touch a stick with his nose. The best treats to use are oats, veggie pieces and pellets.

I hope to be able to teach him to hop on my lap, jump over objects, and a few other tricks.

Clicker training is FUN and it works!! All my buns can beg (Aside from Chuck-I don’t train him-he gets to do as he pleases) and ‘target’. In addition Rupert can spin and go through a hoop.

                  Remember this though:

*1 click=1 treat       *the click marks the behavior, it is not a command or a reward.     * click at the exact second of the desired behvavior

                  As well-for any training.

*Keep it fun                   *always end on a positive          *don’t train angry or frustrated            *set them up for success

Yippie… I just ordered a clicker and the “clicking with your rabbit” from the BB store! I am so excited to get started!!!!! I also got the “Rabbit Health in the 21st century” so I could have it on hand just in case.

Ill keep you all updated on how the clicker training goes! The bunnies are getting better at coming when I call their names so hopefully the clicker will help cement this and then we can start on fun tricks!!!!

I have a clicker, but to tell you the truth, I haven’t noticed a difference weather I use it or not. Fern can jump Through a hoop, stand on her hind legs, give me ten, and spin. It is really cute and I hadn’t practiced in three to four months and I am happy to report that she remembered all her tricks!! She is so smart. I am currently trying to teach thistle some tricks, but it is hard to teach when you have two bunnies because the other is always hanging around wanting food and distracting the one you are trying to teach. I ended up locking the one not doing tricks in the condo, and giving them some pellets to keep them busy.
