Alright, so, we never quite got Heath to STOP peeing on the bed, though putting trash bags over the bed seemed to lessen it. Unfortunately, I forgot to put the bags on this morning, and he got out of his X-Pen and left several nice spots on my bed. No big deal, except that I have a foam mattress topper. Any idea on how to clean that?

The little bugger has proven to be ridiculously spiteful. He only goes onto the bed when we’ve done something that he doesn’t like. If we lock him in the X-Pen, for example, he immediately, upon getting out, leaps onto the bed. If he’s already out, he never gets on the bed. I try to trim his nails? Oh man, that’s poops on the pillow for me. If tell him to stop chewing on my shoes, man, that’s asking for an escape and a subsequent pee. He’s litter trained perfectly the rest of the time–bed peeing is a special punishment. He’ll chew on anything in his way, including people, to get what he wants, and knows the sound of one of us grabbing a watter bottle.

My parents always said that they hoped I had a kid as spiteful as I was–now I got a bunny who’s as spiteful as I was. Honestly, I”m not sure which is worse.

Whenever I have to clean up bun pee I spray on a mixture 1/2 white vinegar 1/2 water. Spray a lot and let it sit for a minute and then blot. It seems to work well to break the pee down and neutralize odor. Good luck.

oh no! I know how you feel, my first bun Pringles would do that to punish me. I finally bought a couple of those cheap plastice table cloths and covered the bed as soon as I made it up and after about a month, she seemed to have forgottten about it being a choice target.

            good luck,
            Kathy

I had a similar problem with Bluebell when she was younger.  She would pee on my friend’s bed (never mine lol) quite regularly.  We tried putting an old towel on the armchair she had in her room (so it got her scent on it) and then bringing it onto the bed when she came into my friend’s room.  Plus we put a litter box right by the bed, then if she did it again we’d pick her up and put her in the litter box, saying “No!”. Both of those seemed to fix the problem with a bit of time.

Also, for some reason, Bluebell seemed to take great offense to something my friend had done (though neither of us could figure out what lol!), so she spent a lot of time sucking up to Bluebell ha!  We found a really good website on rabbit ettiquette.  It taught us a lot.  I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post a link to it so I’m going to check the rules again… but let me know if you want it and it’s okay for me to post.

doesn’t it make you want to ‘do it back to them?’ LOL Ok, gross, but I think if mine did that I’d be very tempted LOL

Anyways, Can you take the foam topper off? I’d put it in the shower and run tonnes of water on it, sqeeze it out, run water, sqeeze it out, then put it out to dry and make sure I didn’t see any spots left…

Thank you all SO very much. The vinegar mix worked perfectly: half vinegar and half warm water cleaned up all the spots right up, and everything smelled much better!

It totally made me want to do it back! Yeah, that’s awkward, but its true. I had a cat that used to throw up on my bed every time I gave him a bath, so I’m used to it. This is the first time it soaked through to the mastress pad, though, which made me freaked out. Honestly, I’m pretty surprised that such a tiny bunny could make a HUGE puddle–I was so impressed I took a picture! It looked like he’d peed, then drunk more water, then did it again. Rinse, wash, and repeat, you know? He also made a nice little poo pyramid.

I’m going to try the trashbag thing, though the tablecloth idea is a nice idea too. I might run down to the dollar store or goodwill and check.
