It saddens me to report that our beloved Clarissa passed away this morning, less than 3 months after we lost Hazel.
Clarissa had been in good health for an old rabbit, but went off her food slightly on Monday night. The vet checked her out yesterday morning and suspected she had a tumour in her womb (we never got her spayed as we did not know how old she was and didn’t want to risk the anaesthetic). She went downhill pretty quickly from there.
She was such a happy but tough old bunny, having recovered with our help from many bouts of GI stasis, but unfortunately this time our best efforts were not enough and she died on her way to the vet this morning.
We are now rabbitless and there is such an empty (and far too tidy) space in our living room, we are not looking to get any more bunnies just now as we are hoping to move house soon, but would really like to set up a small rabbit rescue/foster home in Scotland when we have a new house with more space if anyone has any advice on this?
Will post tribute to Clarissa later when I can compose myself a bit better. Taking comfort in the fact that she went quickly and she’s with Leah and Hazel now.
