cabbage is ok but not in large quantities.  Red cabbage and regular green cabbage are the only kinds I have heard of.  Cabbage as well as spinache parsley and cilantro are high in calcium.  It would be a good idea to check for bladder sludge when feeding these greens and feed them occassionally in small portions.

My girl can’t eat these things as of yet for she gets bladder sludge but my others are ok with it.

I have never heard of chinese cabbage.  Ohhh Bok Choy.  Thats what it is yes thats ok but in small amounts to see if your bun will get bladder sludge or not.  It is usually the younger buns this happens to and they may outgrow it.

OH yes Cotton loves his chinese cabbage and so does Honey Bunny.

Looked it up for you; It’s more commonly known as Bok Choy as Bunnytowne said; However it’s not gas producing or high in Calcium so no need to worry about bladder sludge. Here’s a link http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html

Oh good that kind isn’t high in calcium.  My buns like it so I can be more free with feeding it to them.  Thank I learned something new too.

I feed bok choy to mine. Do have to watch calcium but that’s specific to her. Go for baby bok choy or gai choy. It’s a mustard green and has more leafy part and less stalk.

Hi Chloesmom! Be sure to watch out for the most common adverse reaction – gas. Offer up a small bit of it at first to see, it should not be given in large quantities so a small leaf or one torn in half depending on the size it and if memory serves me correctly shinese cabbage can be quite large so maybe start out with a 1/2 or 1/3 of a leaf.

Have you checked out the Binky BUnny veggie & fruit list?

The Chinese cabbage that the farmers are selling here does not look like bok choy. I googled the image and the Chinese cabbage for sale around here looks like a huge head of romaine. It is also called sui choy and napa cabbage. I guess I will just feed small amounts and see how they handle it. Thanks everyone

You’re welcome! I agree that the Chinese cabbage does look like a big head of romaine lettuce and is much different from bok choy.

Oh, we were of track then! Probably need to watch for gas and also the sweetness.

Yeppers. Jerseygirl don’t worry about it one bit. Any cabbage will cause gas and so will bok choy (as with any veggies really in a very sensitive rabbit) so you were very right about the symptoms with it, great job!
