Our vet is letting us try some children’s benedryl for Charlie. She is prone to URI issues, but we have gone almost a year without any issues. She started doing some serious sneezing a couple days ago, but we all (including her vet) are leaning towards an allergen at this time.
I have children’s bubblegum flavored being delivered today. I also picked up at CVS their brand which is dye and and artificial sweetener free, but now I am wondering about the sucrose.
Any thoughts? Maybe I should just stick with the bubblegum flavor.

Her dose is 1/2 tsp once a day to start. He said we can go twice a day if needed. She weighs 6.8 pounds.

If I remember correctly, the real concern is xylitol. This is why they say to use the children’s formula.

To my understanding, Children’s Benadryl formulas no longer use the problematic sweetener, which is xylitol. Sucrose, sucralose, and sorbitol (the last of which I believe is what is in the bubblegum flavor) are all safe. I personally used Bubble Gum flavor for one of my rabbits.
