So my 7 month old lionhead rabbit will sit on my lap or next to me and start biting and sorting my clothing. I tried presenting her with one of her toys to play with instead but she kept doing it. Then when I would try petting her to stop the action she nipped my arm! She was also recently spayed (a little less than a month ago). She seems to be a bit more rebellious since the spay which is strange because I thought it would have been the other way around. Any ideas how to stop the biting of me and my clothes and what could be making her act up? I thought she may just want more attention but now I’m afraid to touch her when she’s doing it because I don’t want her biting me again!

She is likely going through her post spay phase. Its where the hormone levels start to shift and make the bunny moody. Some buns will act out negatively, some will react more friendly, others wont really show a change. If it is her little phase, it should be over in a few weeks It can spike again though, as female rabbits can take up to about six months to fully have their hormones leveled out again

Oh, I can understand your fruatration. All bunnies like to chew and nip, that is in their natur.

My solution was, maybe not the smartest one, but i really love my bunnies, to wear only old clothes when sitting around them. That way they can do whatever they want, and I dont really care for some old shirt. You could do that, before you think of something else. At least you won’t be nervous.

Thanks so much for the info! I had no idea that was a possibility. She has also been peeing and pooping on my bed post-spay for territory I suppose which was unlike her so I’ve just been putting a plastic sheet down to protect my bed sheets. Its good to know this behavior is likely just due to hormones being out of whack

I posted a similar thing. My bun digs on me then rearranges my clothes with his teeth. It’s really cute until the teeth hit skin. I wear double clothes or a thick sweatshirt to minimize the biting. But that won’t be possible in warmer months. He’s stopped doing it now as I’ve started pushing him away as soon as he starts.
