Guppy was out and ran over to Cheeky’s pen for the usual sniffing session (they’re usually very calm during this).  Cheeky was being submissive with his head on the ground and his ears back, and well Guppy just turned right around and SPRAYED HIM! I’ve never encountered this before (luckily Cheeky never sprayed) and now my sweet lil Cheeky smells like pee.  It’s not terribly strong, but I think some got in his eye and the fur all around his face is wet.  Is there anything I can do to clean him up?  Some one’s neuter will have to be coming up soon.  Guppy will be 5 months old on March 2nd and I’ll be booking his neuter THAT DAY.

Try mop it up with dry cloth then mop with a really wet cloth perhaps? Then let him groom himself.

I paper toweled off as much as I could, Cheeky is on groom mode right now. I just hope it’s not bothering him too much.

The morning after – I checked on Cheeky during the AM feeding. I guess rabbit’s are pretty good at grooming because he looked pretty much back to normal. He cleaned off all the pee on his face and he didn’t have a peepee odor either. There was one spot that he had missed (it was on his back) so I just took a few drops of water and rubbed that on it and dried off with a paper towel. Now I’ve got to be especially careful during their excercise time as well, goodness this Guppy! Luckily I haven’t dealt with any major “teenage” rabbit issues, but Guppy is starting to be a little bit of a troublemaker! Good thing for him he’s too cute for words

Oh no poor Cheeky! I adopted a bunny that had gotten sprayed many many times by the boy that was next to him in the shelter, and he was covered in dried bunny pee – it was tough to get out of his fur so I’m glad that Cheeky was able to take care of cleaning it himself.
