I am taking the babies to the vet on Monday to see what sex they are and to get their teeth checked.
I want one preferable that has pictures of a movie.
Hi,
I found the site below to be the most clearest with pictures! It isn’t hard to sex once you look at a few bunnies and I’m sure you’ll get it right. It refers to Dutch rabbits but they all look the same so good luck!

How old are the babies now Lisa?
That is a pretty good sight – think slit for girl and o for boy.
At that age it is best to compare the babies against each other – that’s what my vet does when she’s not sure with baby bunnies. Make sure you have plenty of light too – it can be hard to tell and the brighter the light the better.
Thanks for the info Charlie82 and Sarita
They will be 6 weeks on Sunday and my appointment is for Monday.
I have a good bedside light I will use that and maybe have hubby on standby with a torch.
Charlie82’s link’s pictures are alot clearer than this site I found but I’ll still share.

I have not been able to sucessfully sex babies before – so I’ll be interested to hear how successful you are at getting the sex right! Let us know how it turns out at the vet ![]()
Lisa, you’re not taking them to the same vet that told you the momma bunny wasn’t pregnant, are you?
-Annette
Yes I am, he isn’t the same one that took the x-rays etc this one is the owner and he is doing everything for free because of the mistake.
I am a bit concerned and will be watching him like a hawk, if I don’t feel that he is confident I will then take them to the rabbit specialist.
I sexed the rabbits yesterday and it is not easy.
The first couple I am not sure but as I continued I felt like I got the hang of it.
I will let you know now before I go to the vet.
Marley is a girl
Zippy is a boy
Willow is a boy
Gizmo is a boy
Tigerlilly is a girl
Peanut is a boy
I bet I am way out so when I return I will give you an update, don’t laugh when I give you the results. LOL
Lisa, definitely let us know how you do as far as sexing :~)
Ha-ha I went to the vet and he thinks.
Marley is a boy
Zippy is a female
Willow is a boy
Gismo is a boy
Tiger Lilly is a boy
Peanut is a boy
He did say that he is not completely sure, he said bring them back in 2 weeks.
I am going to take them in 2 weeks to the rabbit vet not far from me to be on the safe side.
I could have been wrong with the two brown ones, Marley and Zippy because I had forgot to put a marking in one of their ears, when I remembered I guessed which one I had said was the boy and girl.
that’s kinda cool… you were right on with some of them! good job!
That’s not too bad for your first time sexing bunnies! Is there anywhere you could get a second opinion – its just that this will be incredibly important for you know know for sure because if you accidentally put a boy and a girl baby together, once you get to three months you don’t want to have another surprise litter! Maybe make the vet show you how he knows for sure which is which sex? just so you can both be equally confident, and it will be good general education too.
Yes I am taking them in two weeks to the rabbit vet not far from me.
I am not going to trust his judgment as he looked at pictures on the internet, so to me he has no more experience than me.
The rabbit vet specializes in rabbit and reptiles; I would rather pay to get an accurate diagnosis. It is not worth risking a wrong judgment, I am finding it really hard now so if any more got pregnant I would be devastated.
it sounds like you did a pretty ok job with the guessing, it’s pretty hard to tell when they’re still so little
That’s not bad at all…By my count you were 50% right!!! Have you decided to keep them yet????
If someone comes along that can offer them a really good home I will let them go.
I really hope someone wants them they will take two of them so they won’t be too scared.
I am in tears everyday because I know how happy they are and it is sooooo hard to let go.
I pray that someone with experience with rabbits will have them, finding anyone here like that is like finding a needle in a hay stack I think.

I think you did pretty darn good sexing especially considering the majority appear to be males!
oh Lisa… you’re gonna make me cry! i can imagine how hard that must be knowing that you’re going to have limited control over their lives when they go to new homes. i’ll keep you in my thoughts that good people come by who will take excellent care of them. have you posted the info in the vet office yet?
Not yet, I have decided to keep them a while longer because I want them to be a bit friendlier first.
I would change my mind on that if someone with experience wants one then they can have them at 8 weeks.
The rabbit society here told me to ring them when the babies get to 7 weeks and if they get calls they will direct them to me, I will say to her that at 8 weeks they will have to be experience rabbit owners.
Dawn8940 also said she would keep an eye out for a good home.
I was considering keeping them until they are spayed; I am still thinking on that one.
Oh Lisa, I am so sad for you too! You’ve taken such good care of all the little ones and to see them go….I don’t even want to think about it. That is very sweet of Dawn to help you too! If Tigerlily is a boy at least you can just cut it short to Tiger. : )
Something must be wrong with me, I read all your posts about my babies and I still can’t stop crying.
I really think I can’t let them go.

Oh I really feel for you. I would be in the same position if it was me.
I know seven rabbits are alot, but is there no way you could keep some of them? large colonies do well together if neutered young before hormones take over. I have six permanent rabbits and I know how difficult it can be financially. I have to make sacrifices to be able to keep them but I don’t mind 🙂
if you were to get them altered first… you would be already helping them live a longer, healthier life, esp. if the next person was not going to do it. i like Charlie’s idea of neutering young and keeping them… until…
question for the people involved in fostering and shelter work…
if Lisa contacted a rescue near her and told them the situation, do you think they would be able to treat it like a foster situation, even tho she’s had them since birth? would they be able to screen potential people so Lisa doesn’t have to make those decisions and then folks can go right to Lisa?
Beka – I’d think it would depend highly upon the rescue group if they would be willing to help them find homes.
I know some rescues are willing to host photos and such on their website of other foster bunnies who are not officially part of the group, but since rescues are all run a bit differently, they’ll have different policies and ideas about it.
We don’t have any rabbit rescue groups here.
I would like to find homes that people have had a rabbit before and maybe the it has died of old age and they want another one. (Maybe that’s unrealistic)
I don’t even know were to look as we don’t have forums here or anything, maybe I can look at other forums overseas and ask if there is anyone from here.
Western Australia is totally different from were you all come from, the first time I thought rabbits come in the house is on Binky Bunny.
People here are so uneducated about rabbits, when I got Ebony from the vet they didn’t even tell me anything I had to ask what she eats and they printed me off a list of foods and that’s all they did.
it’s just I am the type of person to make sure I find out everything I need to know for her health and welfare, I then looked for a forum and found Binky Bunny but not all people do that.
I am also not going back to that vet again either, my little dog with a heart murmor needs his teeth cleaned and the quote they gave me was nearly $700 another vet about 30 minutes away charges $200 so that made my decision.
This vet is very reasonably priced and over the years I have heard so much good words about him, he also is very good with rabbits so I will take the babies to be sexed there.
You could check http://www.boingonline.com/index.html
I can’t remember what part of Australia they are located, but they have information about rescues, and they even have links to Australian Rabbit Forums. (don’t leave us though, we’d miss you!) But it looks like it might be a good resource to connect with other Aussies that promote house rabbits, and you might be able to find adoptees through their forum???
Keep us updated.
Thanks for that Binky Bunny, I went to the sites and some of the forums don’t work some are closed for maintenance and has been for a while.
It is typical of over here tho, I think I will email Boing and see if they know of anyone that can help me here.
As far as leaving here NO WAY I love if here and the people have been so supportive of me and the Ebony and her babies.
