Hi guys, so this morning I heard a ruckus, went and checked as I assumed one of the buns was sprinting around. I couldn’t identify which one it was as by the time I got to their room (which is next to mine!) both were sitting down looking innocent lol I thought nothing of it. About half hour later, I hear it again so I get up and see them chasing eachother. I couldn’t really work out who was chasing who. I put my hands between them and that didn’t really help but I pulled my hands away unscathed so no biting or anything! I clapped twice hoping the noise would stop them and then I just said firmly “Peanut stop” as he was the chaser at this point. Buttercup ran into the crier and that was that. A couple of minutes later, both buns are snuggled up to each other and Buttercup grooms Peanut.

Should I be concerned about this? I don’t know if this sort of chasing is normal between a bonded pair or not. The last incident was shortly after I moved,  a couple of months ago and it seemed a little more heated than this one this morning. Though nothing serious came out of either – no nipping, biting, fur pulling etc just chasing and a little grunting.

I honestly don’t have a clue what sparked it. I did find a load of poops and pee in the carrier which is unusual. Normally there’s a few poops but not this many and no pee. Don’t know if that occurred before the chase or after whilst Buttercup was hiding out so to speak.

Edit: Have since removed the carrier as both buns decided it was a good place to pee and poop!

Ours seem to do this periodically as well. Honestly, I’ve seen this behavior get started because one of them ate the last piece of a treat and the other one got jealous and decided revisit their dominant rolls. I am never too alarmed by it unless someone starts hair pulling, then I lock up the offender for about a half hour and by the time I let them out they seem to have cooled down a bit. They know each other well now, so it’s not quite the same as trying to bond them again. Like any old couple they will have their moments of irritation and need to figure things out. Just keep an close eye on them.

I totally understand them getting annoyed at one another. If I was to guess what happened, I would say Peanut probably got a bit rambunctious. Buttercup is too mature for his antics LOL. I know previously at my old house, a little chase would ensue if Peanut got over excited and got too close to her rear. Either he’d chase her for some loving or she’d chase him off. Those would only last like 10 seconds, very undramatic. This chase was a bit faster paced, but like I said – no nipping, biting or anything.

All has been well, however boyfriend said he saw a few fur tufts this morning but both buns were snuggling. This is very odd but maybe they needed to sort whatever issue they had by themselves after the chase. Closure maybe?

Edit: After talking about it with my partner I feel more comfortable now. He said there was only three tiny tufts, nothing major
