So my Benny sheds really heavy, he always has so he requires a lot of grooming. Right now both him and Bailey are going through their seasonal molting. I’ve noticed that as he’s shedding this time his hair is coming in a lot less soft. It seems much courser and also maybe a little thinner. Bailey’s is super soft and thick, both her new fur and old fur. Benny’s fur has changed a bit in his life (1.5 year) but mostly just color which of course is normal. This is the first time I’ve noticed him being less soft. Does this happen sometimes or could it be something else? He has been very sick lately and on a lot of meds and his skin has been dry so I’ve been assuming it’s due to those factors, but figured I’d see if anyone else has had any experience with this happening to their bun

If he’s been sick that could affect the hair texture. But rabbits also get their adult coat at around this age, so it’s difficult to say. You can supplement a bun with a few sunflower seeds per day during molting, it has vitamin E and extra protein. Our member Ellie from the Netherlands was recommended that by her vet. I know some people supplement with vitamin B.
