Hi! I am bonding two young buns, a buck and doe. I bought some organic dried German chamomile buds for them, hoping to relax them before their Saturday date. What I wonder is, can they be harmed by too much chamomile? I have given each bun two small buds, once, and they seemed okay. (They each weigh about seven lbs.) If two buds are good, are five buds better? Hmmmm.

Hmmm, chamomile is safe to consume, but I probably wouldn’t go completely overboard?

I would think of it in terms of the volume it would be fresh. A teaspoon of chamomile would probably be a small handful fresh, which seems like a very reasonable amount for a rabbit to eat. I know the floppers herbal hay toppers usually recommend about a teaspoon or so per bun, so that seems like a good upper limit. Or maybe half a teaspoon since it’s just one type of herb? Start with a small amount to make sure it doesn’t cause any tummy upsets.

Just because I’m obligated to ask, are your buns neutered/spayed?

Teaspoon or a “pinch”, that’s what I give.
