We just got a new bunny this weekend.  She is a HUGE brown lop.  She looks like my beloved (& still missed) Cocoa Puff…..but she seems much bigger.  I’m not sure if it’s b/c she’s really fat or whether she’s just a huge bunny.  She’s slightly bigger than my lionhead & netherland dwarf combined!!!  So almost a giant bunny.

Anyway, we’ve only had her for 24 hrs.  She’s been Cecal Central!  They are everywhere…..her litterbox, her blanket, her food bowl, on the cat’s bed, in the cat’s litterbox….it goes on & on.   Her previous home:  teen boy decided he liked girls better than having a pet rabbit.  He was somewhat rabbit-like as he got his gf pregnant.  Mom took over rabbit care until she could re-home the bunny to someone responsible.  Mom admitted that she fed her giant carrots daily and she seldom got green leafy veggies.  She also got junkie bunny food w/ stuff in it.

We’ve been weaning her off and intro’ing her to veggies.  She will be going to the vet next week.  Since we are down to one car, I have to wait until my echo appt for my cat.  So any guess on how long the cecal parade will last?  It’s super gross!

Ewww….hopefully she will normalize pretty soon. Your post has some funny numbers and stuff too which makes it a little hard to read and I’m sure it wasn’t intentional.

If they kept her outside you may want to consider doing a fecal test as well when you take her to the vet.

Her body is probably trying to get all that bad nasty stuff out so it can enjoy all the good stuff it’s getting now! Lots and lots of water and hopefully it will be over soon!

I don’t know why it came out like that….

She’s been indoor only.  Most recently she lived in the tiny “my first bunny home” in the kitchen.  She’s really cute!  Now she’s doing super grape bunches.  They are so disgusting!  Initially it was only the giant single or double stink bombs, but now the grape bunch from hell!

              YUK!

hehe Cecal central. I love how much we talk about poo on this site! Really, I find it funny!

Ok – So CONGRATS!!!! Pictures? Name??

I’m thinking get her onto cheifly hay but you don’t want diet changes to be too drastic….. guess it’s just going to take some time. Perhaps keep her in smaller area until this is resolved? It might be like her Terri-poops but it all come out mushy. What fun.

Oy Vey! The new beast is keeping me super busy.  She loves to potty on the cat beds.  DH just bought new beds for the cats, but they won’t get them until she gets fixed & better litter trained.  Her cecals have greatly decreased, but now she has those giant super stinky poops…they are mushy just overly scented.  DH took a picture of her & one of the cats.  She’s a major flopper and loves to flop next to the cats.  I don’t know how to download anything….so that will wait until the weekend.  We have named her Molly!  She has no idea what her name is…..LOL

NEW BUNNY!!!!!!!!!!! Oh wow! Congrats! Thanks so much for saving her ;o) She doesn’t have the slightest clue how lucky she is!

So how big is giant? She may be overweight and might slim down over the next few months with good food and regular exercise (and cats to chase… lol!) I’m also guessing it’s because of the new foods and better stuff. I wonder if you should wait to introduce multiple veggies until she gets more regular, just keep pumping her full of hay and healthy pellets…

That is too true. The same is true for the goldfish forum I go to. I swear, I have read so much on my pets poo!
I don’t hear cat and dog people chatting about poo nearly as much.

I think DH has been sneaking her bunny treats (dried fruit)…he’s a sucker for a bunny face.  We had to get rid of my cat’s bed….too many cecals & pee stains!  We named her MOLLY and she’s a STINKER!

Is she eating the cecals at least?

It sounds like she is dispensing out all the bad food she was given. Beka’s right – keep putting in the hay and lots of water and this episode should “pass.”

Oh give DH a smack for giving treats until she normalizes.
Also try upping her hay-that can often dry up the cecal over production.

Can’t wait to see giant bunny pictures!!

She seems to leave cecal-like poops, especially near the other bunnies’s condo.  The gross kinda of cecals that are more oblong.  The vet cleaned her rear very well today.  She obviously never had her glands cleaned and cecally poops were sticking in her fur and waxing gland residue.  Boy she smelled!  I’m not sure what cecals she’s eating.  It seems like I’m always scraping them up!

We have changed her name….it is no longer Molly.  Apparently she presented he true personality by chewing up our speaker wire (no more surround sound for us!).  She also has chewed up any cords that are of similar width.  Therefore, we have changed her name to Chewbacca AKA Chewie.  DH is very pleased w/ her new name being a super star wars dork.
