Do you find that your buns like to sleep in those little fleece-type cat beds? I’ve seen them used a couple of times, but i wanted to know what yall thought!
Mine refuses to sleep on anything but the cold hard ground, No matter what I get/make her she still prefers the ground or the ledges in her cage. ![]()
I think it really depends on the rabbit. If you get one, maybe don’t spend tons of money incase Max snubs it. I got one for Jersey and she just slept next to it like it was another bunny. Now she has an actual bunny friend I find she and he sit in it from time to time but not really sleep in it.
Rumball treats it like a bunny too. Sits on the outside of it and rests his chin on the high sides – like he does with Jersey, he’ll rest his chin over the back of her neck.
max likes sleeping on my bed, the carpet, pillowcases- this makes me think he might appreciate a little bed. i’ll buy a cheap one and see how it goes
thanks for the input!
Mine like soft fluffy places. I usually get a bunch of those cheap throws and fold a couple of those up. But we do have a couple of cats beds that they will sleep on too. I just have to be careful they don’t look too much like the litterbox, (the square beds with sides) or they will use it like one.
I have a big very soft bed for Pinky and Sara Jane and all they do is lay in it. Somrtimes Sara Jane will lay next to it but never Pinky. But, he’s pretty old about 9. He likes his comfort.
We bought Otto a little cat bed, but he never uses it. He prefers to sleep on the hard plastic bottom of his cage and will push aside his fleece to do it. I guess it depends on the bun.
I use those to put in the bottom of my carriers for the rabbits when they go to the vets so they can be used for that as well…they are great because they can be washed and reused too. I do not use them as beds for my rabbits but I think it’s worth a try and since they could also serve as the cushion for the carrier, it’s a worthwhile investment.
I have a cuddle cup from Petco. My bunny loves to be silly in it. Darting in and out…he doesn’t sleep in it for long but does like to hang out in there in the mornings.
You can usually get them for very cheap, I’ve seen them as inexpensive as 5 bucks. Like the others said, just make sure it is washable, and pay attention after you wash to make sure it’s still in one piece and holding up well. I use leftover baby blankets from my son for my bunnies. They like to lay and dig in them. When I clean out their pen, I just fold them around the other way to the “fresh side” and I wash once a week. I have not tried a cat bed, but it’s on my list… lol.
thanks!! y’all have great ideas! i enjoy using your experiences to base my decisions ![]()
I’ve been so tempted to get a cat bed for Freya. Something pink and adorable. The only two places I’ve ever caught her sleeping are under the couch and, she’s so wierd, behind the toilet. She’s a huge fan of the cold bathroom floor. I do keep covered up much of the time with a big fleece blanket and she loves to sit at my feet and dig in it. I’m thinking that a fleece throw for her would be a better investment since it can double as a toy and a bed if she ever decides she wants comfort. I do love the idea though of the bed in the carrier. She gets so scared since the towel we used last time moves around. I may get one of those purse type cutsey little carriers, we have a plane trip later this year it will be good for too.

Check with the airline, a lot of them only allow certain types or brands or carriers.
Regarding the carriers: I recommend the hard plastic cat carriers, the really good ones have doors that can open from the top as well. The fabric ones are no match for a bunny as they can chew it to pieces in no time, and if they have an accident, it’s not easy to clean or disinfect.
I tried giving my bunnies a cat bed – and they flipped it over and started pulling the seams out! I do have a soft sided carrier for the airline, and the advantage is that it is easier to put under the seat. In order to make sure that the bunnies do not pee or make a mess of the carrier, is I put a litter box the same size as the carrier in the bottom, and put litter and hay in it. That way if they do pee it stays in the box, and they also have some hay to munch on! It also keeps the soft sided carrier from collapsing in on them when you are carrying them around.
Yup. Mine eat them. Yum. (NOT!)
I’ve done well with pet beds that have more of a ‘plushie fur’ texture to them rather than the fake lamb’s wool type. I think they must be cooler or something. I get mine from a UK company though, this is expensive but for my three to be comfortable (especially my mini-rex) it’s essential.
A-hem! Just going to quote myself here….

No sooner than I say it…. I snapped this pic this morning. She’s been in in for ages. I’m finding she’s in it more now that she has to share her stuff. Not that Rumball minds. He’ll happily sit next to her on the outside of the bed.
Quoting yourself??!! how… politician-like of you! — NOT allowed, add it to the guidelines??(j/k)
Jersey’s pic makes me want to buy a cat bed… hmm… maybe as a house warming gift for my new condo?? argh. mine will just shred it and pee in it! ![]()
Jerseygirl, Jersey is stinking adorable!!! (sorry it sounds kind of redundant) I love that pic ![]()
ha! Well I’m not telling her that. Maybe just the ‘stinking’ part. Little minx & her sidekick are tearing up the place today!!!!![]()
hahaha!! hyper buns?
but i feel you. max is such a clumsy binki-er that he knocks over everything!!
Pacey loves his cat bed he spends most of the day in it.
Marshmallow thinks they make an excellent litterbox along with anything else soft so she doesn’t have one lol
We have 2 dog size beds that lay next to the radiators. They are for the cats. During the winter, all four lay in the beds w/ their little heads next to the radiators. The only times the rabbits have shown interest….is to come on over and pee on those beds. Needless to say, the cats never appreciate that. When Cocoa was here, he liked to run and jump on them and occasionally take a lie down. When he’d lay on the bed, we’d freak out b/c we thought he was going to pee on it. Leo seems to prefer to lay in his litterbox….so nasty.
Ooh, I would love to get a soft comfy cat bed for my buns. Problem is, I’m pretty sure Ludicris would eat it- he has eaten holes in the couch, several blankets, my shoes, the carpeting, and pretty much anything else soft enough to devour. I must be outta my mind to give them the run of the house. Maybe a cat bed would give him something to focus on though, something to destroy that’s all his…? The ultimate goal would be to see the two bunnies snuggled together peacefully in their adorable bed, but that may be hoping for too much.
Well good luck with anyone trying the cat bed!
I had a dog bed…for my dog. He wouldn’t use it. We let it sit in the room with the rabbits and Sir Thumps a lot decided he needed a new toilet. He claimed that and what was my old bed. Uck. I went in there a couple days ago and it was all torn up (the bed) and the stuffing was ripped out. (I think Bunnie was the culprit)
Guess we found her a hobby. Destruction and disapprovement.
Jersey is a very cute little bun. She looks so comfortable in there.

Sammy still likes to sit and play in her Cuddle Cup, but she sleeps next to it on the bare plastic floor. She sits and leans over the edge to eat her pellets, and even though she’s a baby here last November, she still does it.
