Lately Moreland has come accustomed to shredding his rugs in his room overnight.  He has been ripping them up into little pieces.  there is hard leno  floor in his room with a rug.  i have to get rid of the rugs however what should i put down for him? will he be fine with a couple towels on the floor? he hates lino but i have no choice.

OH my a rug shredder.   I would think towels would be ok as long as he doesn’t eat them.   I saw somewhere  I think Foys website that they sell a soft bottom looks like plastic thing that bunnies can get a grip to run and have rest for their feet

The website is Foyspigeonsupplies.com   go to the catalog and pic bunnies.   They also have bunny supplies.  Maybe try that if he won’t eat it.

            Have you tried grass mats?

I have obsessive carpet shredders as well – there are a couple things I started using on the floor instead. As a soft floor covering I use fleece, it doesn’t have all those tempting individual little fibers for bunnies to chew on and pull. As a distraction, I started bringing home cardboard boxes from work, cutting them down to be flat, and actually putting the cardboard squares in the popular places to dig and chew, they get really distracted into shredding the cardboard. Also, the grass mats that Sarita mentioned are a good idea, the only problem I had with those is my bunnies went through them really fast and they were more expensive than the free cardboard I started putting down I think that my one digger Kramer is going to poop an entire box one day because he chews it up so much.

I found that they type of carpet makes a difference for me. Jack will rip up carpet if it is longer and loose. But shorter, tight carpet textures fair much better. Also if he’s just shredding stuff out of boredom, then along the sames lines that moobunnay was talking about, also try a phonebook. (as a distraction – not as flooring

I bought a really plain, cheap rug from Bed Bath and Beyond… was only $10. My girls can rip it apart and after a few months I can go get another!
