Carpet chewer

I am proud to say my bunnies are now free range of my bedroom during the day then at night the get locked up in their  x large dog crate. I have to bunnies named jubejube and king  and they are both potty trained very well ( every once and a while they will leave me a “pebble” on the window sill&#160 . They are both nueterd males and they do have a good bond with me expecially jubejube ( they even come when called!! ) also they are 3 years old and i have had them since they were 2 months old.

So there is some background info on them if it helps^^^^^

 

Well i am here for a little help with kings “rabbittude”  he keeps trying to chew my carpet. At first he diggs at it and once he gets a little strange free he starts chewing it  I already have a tiny hole under my bed ( shhh dont tell mom lol) and i just dont want him to dig anymore. Here are things i came up with:

 

Buy a whole bunch of willow or apple stick baskets and grass mats

Put a throw rug down ( but i dont want him to injest it ) 

spray the carpet with bitter spray…. i really dont want to lol

Id give him a digging box but i dont really want a giant mess in my room… like i dont want a box full of dirt  maybe full of shedded paper,grass,treats etc

 

if you have any suggestions please help me and my naughty bunny!! I will see if i can post pics

King is the tan lions mane and jubejube is the black and white dutch bunny cross netherlands dwarf ( at least thats what i think he is it never said what kind he was when we got him )

Okay so as you can see in the pic above ^^^ king has long nails! Could this cause the digging? I am not trying to be cruel lol im trimming them tomorrow i left them long because he was a little stressed last month when i should have done them ( he was stressed because of new cage) and i didnt want to stress him more! 

Him and jubejube under my bed causing trouble! They are 100X cuter in person im just a horrible and i mean HORRIBLE  photographer lol

You can try blocking off access to under your bed (since you can’t supervise under there as well). If you’re noticing specific “hot spots” that he will go to and dig and chew, then the seagrass mats will work. There are two spots that Java will go to (he’s SO well-behaved, but this is just a bunny thing), and I put a fleece blanket and a seagrass mat over it. Now, he’ll chew and dig on it, but doesn’t do any damage.

Depends on the bunny. For Powder, if I hear him chewing carpet just yelling “POWDER!” will stop him and he won’t go back for days. Stickers, will go to chew carpet any time she thinks she can get away with it, or even if she can’t she’ll try to steal a bite or two. I haven’t found anything that works for her except a spray bottle of water and even then, it’s only for a few minutes. Blocking off access to hidey spots is best since they tend to chew/dig more if they feel hidden.

We bought cheap $5 welcome mats to place over the trouble spots…. It seems to work.

Tamariz is very fond of corners of carpet and tried to dig up two in my study. Both under the sofa. I have put small bricks in the corners. Problems solved. Obviously as this is under the sofa the aesthetic doesn’t matter so you might find different if they chew in visible areas. Tiz also likes my books but an ipad box filled with torn up cardboard underneath the book shelf sorted this out and she tears it but it doesn’t create a mess like shedded paper. Hope it might help. Still haven’t found a solution to her chewing my socks though…they seem irresistible!

Okay thank you guys XXX I was thinking of blocking off the under side of the bed but they really like hanging out down there so i think i will try something else.
I went to the thrift store and i found this super cute sponge bob blanket ( i know lol ) and i put it on my floor so now he doesnt dig there and i think i will do that under my bed. And mabey put down some grass mats thanks guys
