So my last bag of Carefresh (okay, no jibes please) wound up smelling like vinegar when I opened it. XP

Has anyone else here had a bag of, not-so-fresh smelling Carefresh before? I know it’s recycled product, so I can imagine it’ll have some kind of perfume to it…but…vinegar?? 0_o

It’s not going to hurt the bunnies to have to smell that, is it?

Whether they use an acid in production or something. I’d call the company just for peace of mind.

No idea. I’ve never used carefresh. Do you use the regular color, or white or…? Is it the same type you always use? I would maybe call and give them the number on the bag, I’m guessing there should be some kind of identification as to what batch it is. Who knows, they may have received other complaints as well?

Hmmm maybe they were thinking to save you from having to soak the litterboxes in vinegar to lift the hardened urine…..

Yes good idea contact the company.

I use carefresh to offer a soft thin top on the aspen pine litter and I have also never had that smell before. I ditto comments to contact the company  about it  to let them know, as well as request that they replace it.

Yeah it was just the white Carefresh. One of the huge bags. I had been using this product to keep Fiver’s feet from standing in urine soaked litter, since he has such delicate tootsies.
Do you think they’ll actually replace it? 0_o But I’d already opened it. It would sure be nice if they would.

Does the bag have any kind of customer satisfaction number on it somewhere? If the product is bad/defective I’d hope the company would do the right thing and replace it for you even if you opened it. It would be a little hard to tell it was bad without opening it.

Hope you are able to get it replaced!

I sent them an email last night and had an answer this morning. They apparently don’t have any other complaints (at least none that were disclosed to me) and the lady very kindly offered to replace the bag of Carefresh, she’s having it sent by UPS.

That’s great news! Hopefully the new bag will be normal.
