I have been in contact with the IL HRS in Chicago.  She has some possible matches for me.  Here is one:

He’s adorable.  I like him a lot.  But…..what would grooming be like?  Just brushing him every day?  Or would I need to look into maybe getting him a hair cut every once in a while?  Speaking of hair cuts, I have some dog grooming shears.  Would I be able to cut his fur myself or should I let a professional do it?    What about shedding?  Is there anything I need to watch out for?

Others here have said groom everyday, but another member mentioned that the long hair didn’t matt so much if they didn’t groom so often. I think it’s important during a shed so they don’t ingest that long fur. Plus their mate would ingest some too. Not that Lolli is much of a groomer from all reports – lol, but you never know. His foster carer could give you alot of answers about his specific needs. Can you contact them?

How are you feeling to reaching this stage of bringing home a new bunny?

I’m feeling ok. Nervous that he might die on me. lol I can’t really get another bunny for a few more weeks. I really miss having a bun that actually LIKES being petted. Lolli looks like she has a beard cause she has tufts of fur sticking up all over her head, but I can’t get to them cause she won’t let me. lol So I think I am ready. I’m pretty sure Lolli misses having somebunny to snuggle with it at night and to play with, etc.

Lollipop would groom Eddie all the time. It’s just me she doesn’t “groom”. lol So I’d have to watch for her too.

When viewing the rabbits be sure to check whether they genuinely enjoy snuggles etc rather than just tolerating it. It’s not that common but those buns are out there. Keep us up to date on the candidates too. So I can live vicariously thru you.

If you are wanting to bond the new rabbit with Lolli, the best thing to do is to ask if you can bring Lolli and let her pick her new boyfriend.

I asked about that and the response I got was that I can bring her, but they’d let me take whichever bun I choose home with me to see how they do on the home turf. If it absolutely did not work out, then I could bring the bunny back and we’d start the process all over. So basically I’d be fostering the bunny for a period of time in which I try to bond them. So I am undecided about bring Lolli now. It’ll be at least a 3 hour drive. I mean, she does fine driving across town, but that’s a lot for a bunny who’s only ridden in a car for a max of maybe 20 minutes.

When Lolli was a baby and I first brought her home, I had my friend and her bunny lulla living here as well. Eddie and Lulla HATED each other. I mean, HATED. Eddie would go over when he was free and mess with her. Sigh. But Lolli would be very submissive and just want to be friends with both of them. Hopefully she will be the same. At the very least, she will be VERY curious about the newcomer. lol

Lolli lets me gives her nose pets more often now, but that’s all. I think at this point, I’d settle for a bun that let me pet all of him. lol There is a dutch boy who is apparently a cuddler as well. And they work with local shelters up there so we’d go see what kinds of bunnies the local shelter has.

With the woolies, I’ve heard it can really vary rabbit to rabbit – some have super fine hair that mats like crazy and need to be brushed every day or given hair cuts. Others have hair that miraculously doesn’t mat, so they don’t need to be brushed as often.
