Most beds and hidey holes on the market for purchase are not large enough for two buns to fit in together. So I want to take one of our many cardboard boxes and make something. They do like to chew and shred cardboard so I’m thinking I should stick with the plain cardboard and not anything decorated…like my perfect sized box from a lighting fixture I just bought grrrr. Also what about the tape and/or glue on the box? Obviously if I remove it the box will fall apart but is it safe? I want to fill it with some newspaper they can shred and burrow in but I need to call the Washington post and see if they use soy based ink first

I’m hoping to build something tomorrow since it’s my day off.

Paper boxes or bankers boxes work well too. Make sure to cut two openings.

My buns have never eaten the tape off of here cardboard boxes before, I would just watch and make sure they don’ eat it. also I sometimes put the sides that have tape on it in between the two walls of there condo so they can’t reach the tape.

We have a grocery store here called save a lot, kinda like an aldi’s etc. anyhow, they always put all the boxes up front and I find the ones that hold the large cans work awesome! they already have a “cut out” for the buns to come in and out of and all I put in there is the blanket. Nilly LOVES hers. and free!

We shop at aldi’s, and every time I go there I pick up about 10 boxes! LOL. My dad gets made because all the extra boxes go into the garage

We have an aldi nearby but I’ve never been. Is it nice? I may have to go check in out so I can get some boxes

Sounds like my daughter and I will head out to aldi in the morning to check it out and get a few boxes then build the box hidey hole after lunch. Yay I’m so excited.

When I was picking up boxes at Costco (they put them up front near the customer restrooms for people to take) I was careful to only get ones that had originally packed food. I turned down several nicely sized one that had cleaning supply logos on them, just in case the containers had leaked onto the boxes. I got a couple of absolutely perfect one that had a scooped down front opening, one had originally held lettuce and the other spinach. When I turned them upside down the opening made a perfect door for porky to get in and out of.

Oops! I initially mis-read that. I was thinking “why would they want to take boxes to the restrooms?” Lol!

Good point about what the boxes originally contained. Stay away from those waxed boxes also.
