Arghhhh!  Well you must all excuse me, I’m venting….

This afternoon I had the gruesome task of pulling a large-ish dog of what remained of my lonely only chicken.  Yuk.

I am dog sitting for a friend who is on her honeymoon.  She has a young, very active Dalmation.  Very attractive looking dog actually but that didn’t have me forgiving her too quickly today.  She had her jaws locked good and tight and I had quite a struggle to get her away.  She had gone into primal mode. The chicken must have gotten too close to the fence.   It had been a sport for her for a few days, seeking out the chicken out to taunt but once she got her mouth on it, it turned into something else.    I understand it natural instinct for the dog but……..still not nice to see.

I never thought that I could love my little herbivore more until today!

Um . . . I’m not sure from your post – is your chicken okay?
          I hope so.
I understand chickens are good pets & fresh eggs are amazing.

Dalmatian are very pretty dogs. However, they are so inbred they have major health problems – and not all that bright.

No, the chicken was already dead by the time I arrived on the scene. I lost another one months ago to a fox. Until then, I never knew foxes were around suburban areas. I only had 2 as they were the one’s being picked on by the other chickens at my parents farm. Turns out they might have had a better chance there.

I didn’t know that about Dalmations. I know they can be a bit hyperactive. She’s certainly getting me fit. I have one more week of this extra exercise!
