        Hi,

For the past few months, whenever I scoop pellets and put them in her plate, she starts running in the hutch and thumping. She’s totally used to the noise too. She doesnt look very scared and gets super excited (accidentally dumping her paws into the water bowl excited)

Is she scared or can you just generally get an excited thump?

        Thx x

I associate those thumps with impatience because Wick is a sassy man… haha. It could be excitement, but I associate spurts of energy-expending actions, like binkys, zoomies, and circling as moreso excitement. Thumping is more of a warning or sign of negative affects for Wick.

It’s pretty rare that a rabbit thumps when she’s happy/positively excited, but from my reading, it does happen.

I think so. Peanut has started being a sassy little bean and running and thumping when I say “lunch time!” The little terror.

They can absolutely thump from excitement, especially young rabbits

My Chewie does it. Especially as he’s binkying off after a particularly tasty treat.

Boston does it every feeding time , I thought he had food aggression as he bit my Other half when being fed this week also – but I posted here and the consensus seems to be “food excitement ” as appose to “food aggression”
Either way – it’s not scared, it’s a “hurry up already!”

I have found out that I need to take care about giving Panda banana treats. She gets a major case of “food excitement” and got so overenthusiastic Monday evening that she went so far as to nip me to demand more!

I get all sorts of thumps from Parsnip, most frequently the “omg breakfast hurry up!” thump when he sees me pick up the tub of pellets in the morning. Then there’s the “everything smells different!” thump when I let him into the playpen after Pomegranate’s been in there, followed by him chinning all his favourite things. And of course the “yippee!” thump followed by zoomie laps and binkies He’s a very chatty bun, in his way!

My late BoobahBeeskers used to thump while doing zoomies. They can thump out of joy, that’s what BoobahBeeskers used to do. Sassy sometimes does this, too .

Jules and Sebastian sometimes stop at me when I get ready to feed them. “Hurry up! We are hungry!”
