Can someone inspect our new bunny condo?

Is that ramp too steep? it will have carpet on it once done. He isn’t allowed up to the top level until daisy is spayed and they can live together because I don’t want him to mark it as his territory. (the top does have doors now)  also thinking of adding a few napping ledges.

any suggestions? they roam free when I’m home but this is their condo while I’m at work! you can see the small kennel on the side which holds the litter box and food station (will be adding one “upstairs” once daisy can move in.

Golly me, that reminds me on when I made “tents” in the kitchen with woods and bedsheets when I was a tiddler – !! Lucky buns !!

I would say it does seem quite steep as a ramp on the photo, but not so steep as high….
I think there should be some side protections on the ramp to prevent the buns from falling. That’s a lethal drop down if they stumble or get a fright whilst on it.

Are they just sheets up the top or will it be finished with chicken wire?

That’s a huge front door to remove each time… where will you stock it when it’s open or is there a tiny door built into it (like a catflap) so bun can get back in to have a wee.

thanks!! initially we thought the sides would be tight to the wall so we were using just the sheet to protect the wall but as amature bunny condo builders we didn’t factor in the molding so there’s quite gap. definitely not large enough for a Mr bun to fall through but daisy is smaller and we’d hate to have a foot get caught so we will be adding cage to those sides too. and I am currently trying to figure out how to add sides to the ramp because I had thought about falling DOWN it but didn’t think about falling over the sides which im sure with 2 buns running back and forth is a good possibility! and we don’t mind the big door staying down as we made it so we could walk over it (bunny feet safe too!) but the kennel we use as the bathroom has a door on 2 sides so (one inside the condo and one on the front so we can give food and such- so if we wanted to close the big door the buns can still get in through the kennel door. see the waterbottle on the black kennel? that’s where the door Is (you can see half a bunny behind if you look closely!)

when we first got Mr. Bun we had him in that side kennel AS HIS WHOLE HOUSE!! we had never had a bun before and he was 5 weeks when we got him (rescued from a bad home-the rest of his litter didn’t make it) so we thought wow that’s a great house for a little bun! thanks to lots of research and this site we figured out that was WAY too small for him to be in all day and eventually created a set up with baby gates. so when we decided to get daisy we knew we would need a more sturdy condo!

Soft, wavy, sheets will definitely be yummy scrummy rippy bitey nibbley material (hah, scuse the pun!) for bunnies.

Sheets can be used to cover something over (like an xpen) if they are high out of reach of a persicoping bun, but to be in immediate contact will be too tempting and asking for trouble…. Nic cubes tied together to make a wall protecter ?

But you’ve certainly got on a major project going on there !! LOL

Could you somehow make the ramp into a tunnel (so protection from flopping off the sides or going over the top) by attaching an upside down gutter… or suchlikes…. (just thinking out loud) a big wide diameter tube…. of something…. (sewage pipe? – unused of course!) or cage like material. I’ve cut up and folded into right angles sheets of wire grid (used in cementing walls and floors) . The grid holes are about 2 inches square so way enough prottection…. be careful of sharp edges.
A see through one would be more fun so you can see what’s going on – sort of like a hamster cage, but for bunnies…..

We have always used a sheet as the floor of bun’s pen but it was always pulled taught and he never chewed it! (one of the only things he didn’t chew! he chewed a bunny sized hole in one of his baby gates!) but we don’t know if daisy would chew the sheet! luckily we got some different wire for the sides which is the small square hole kind like you’re talking about! hopefully that’ll solve that problem! and that’s a GREAT idea about the tubing- my boyfriend works in landscaping so I’m sure he would be able to get ahold of something like that! but I agree see through would be more fun! We have daisy in a separate large dog kennel at the moment until she is spayed so we have some time to finish tweaking which Is why I posted here- hoping to get some ideas from more experienced bunny parents! if they have to stay in a cage while I work the least I can do is give them a bunny mansion!
