I feed my rabbit adult rabbit oxbow pellets. She currently has about 5 lbs of food left or more. I work at a pet store and my boss gave me a free 10 lb bag of oxbow adult guinea pig pellets because it was ripped. I don’t want to give it away if I can mix it in with her pellets to make them last longer and save me some cash. This would most definitely be a one time thing if I do mix them.

The main difference is that guinea pig food has added Vitamin C, since they can’t produce it on their own like rabbits can. My hunch (not a vet/professional) is in the short-term, a slight increase in Vitamin C is likely fine, but I think the time it’d take to go through a 10lb bag is much too long. Vitamins are great, but we know too much of anything can be degrading for internal organs and systems.

I would recommend giving it away to a rescue, if there is one local to you who has guinea pigs.

I wouldn’t give your rabbits them because of the added vitamins. Rescues won’t take it most likely if it is ripped. Maybe if you know someone with guinea pigs you could give it to them.

I will definitely donate them then! Thank you.

The nutrient profile on Oxbow looks almost the same, aside from the vitamin C, although they only list the minimum guaranteed amounts for the vitamins. Maybe you could check with your vet and/or contact Oxbow to see what they say? There is tons of vitamin C in many of the veggies we give our bunnies (dark leafy greens), so I doubt the C would be an issue. I’d be more concerned about a difference not listed on the label.
