        Hi there!!!

Okay so to start off, I wouldn’t house these two together (my bunny is 10 years old and likes her space), but I couldn’t help but notice how much this shy piggie loves my bunny (Snowball)!! She spent the first few days in her piggie house, and after a bit of research I thought that maybe she was lonely for a piggie pal, so I compromised with letting my bunny hop around and play in the guinea pig room!! She has since warmed up, and I’ve learned while she was out of her cage (I was cleaning it) that she loves to snuggle my bunny and clean her face.

My bun is really old and chill (and always supervised when together) and doesn’t seem to mind, I’m mostly worried about the guinea pig. I’ve read about bordatella and now I’m scared that hanging out with my bunny (especially while cleaning her face) might make her sick!!! Also once it’s time to go in a few months I don’t want her to be too “bonded” (can buns and piggies even bond?) and get sad again.

Thank you guys! Just wanna know other people’s opinions and inputs on this, I’m taking my bun for an x-ray soon hopefully (once I get paid!!!) so I will ask the vet about it then.

bunnies and guinea pigs can live and play together! just make sure that the rabbit dosnt hurt the guinea pig (sit on or stomp on the guinea pig) and you should be FINE!

You can keep the both of them, but as you already know, rabbits carry Bordetella (。•́︿•̀。) Please keep them in separate housing spaces for health purposes of your Guinea Pig.

My mother owned both Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, and after one accidental interaction between them caused Reno to become infected with Bordetella, and my mother didn’t know until it was too late and Reno had passed.

Check your Guinea Pig for any of the following (visible and tactile) symptoms:

            • Snot, or discharge from the nose
            • Weight loss or changes in appetite
            • Fever
            • Looking/acting depressed

The best companion for a piggy is another piggy.

Best of luck and love in the future for your piggy and bunny!

When Choco (GP) was PTS in January, that left us with just one piggy, down from six at one point. I didn’t want to get another piggy, just so Latte wasn’t alone, as by that logic, at some point, I’d always need to get another, and I currently have six house buns, as well as Latte (GP). Latte has always liked being next to Podge (rabbit) when out in the garden, so he was given small amounts of highly supervised floor time with Podge over the winter, now he is quite happy just being near when they go out on the grass. Their runs always go side by side
