well, i recently bought my rabbit a dog cage 36″ long, and ive litter trained him, but his bed at the minute, is a carboard box with a rubbish towel hammock, that just pulls down anyway, i was thinking of getting a cat bed, or a ferret bed, yano the ones that are like a square that hangs down of the roof, but they cost alot, so…. i really like making things and i would love to make him a bed, so i was gunna make one like this (see link(s) below), but im not sure if he would just destroy it, chew the “rope” down, or anything else, what do you think he would do?

        Info:

        Name: Gypsy
        Gender: Boy
        Age: around 6-7 months
        Breed: English spot rabbit

[age edited by Rabbitpam], I have thread, sewing machine, can get some fabric.. ect

        So my questions are:

        What fabric should i use?
        How to make it?
        Would he ruin it?
Should i forget the whole idea, and go and buy one?

i was thinking, Fleece, make 4 squares, machine up? simple right? and obv have a hole in the front! out rong with that? PLEASE any replys thanks xxx

I have made about 3 beds before. I could help you, I can’t find a link though to see what kind you want to make.

Those beds are really cute! However, rabbits aren’t like ferrets and don’t like climbing…I don’t know if they would use a hanging bed where their feet aren’t on steady ground. You could always make a bed like the ones you linked, except you could put it on the floor so that Gypsy feels safe in his little hideaway.

It’s really hard making a bed for rabbits…no matter how hard I’ve tried to give my rabbits soft cute beds to lay on, they never use them, and just sprawl out somewhere else instead! Keep in mind that you can’t make Gypsy sleep in a particular place or structure; even though you might make him a cute bed so that he can sleep in it, he might have completely different ideas and not use it at all.

If you’re intention is to give your bunny a bed that is rasied a few inches off the ground, here’s an inexpensive one that Smokeybunnyrobinson recommended. As, I recall, Smokey is lying on top of it too! That’s Smokey with the bed in the picture!

My rabbits Love digging licking and sitting in this kind of bed. ( be aware of poo and pee )

Heather, can you please remove your age from your post? Under age people aren’t supposed to post their age on the forums here, just a safety measure for our younger members

Jasmine loves her BB bed! From day one she’s slept in it. I think the key is putting it somewhere comfy. I put hers under my desk (no chair) in my bedroom. Also it’s immaculate; no fur hay poops-nothing. I <3 my Jazzybunny!! Franz sleeps in his bed too but he soils it a lot which is irritating. So the BB beds are good to model off of I'd imagine. I don't think my bunnies would go in a high edged bed, they like to see.

My edges on the one I made are very small because I stuffed them. They seem to love it even though they pee/poo in it sometimes

I’m not sure how to make a rabbit bed, but I’ve seen a few beds for rabbits on various sites that look like the one in Mocha’s picture. Here are a bunch on etsy with lots of different colors to choose from. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ellencho?section_id=6030204
I’m thinking of buying one for Sir (my bunny).
