So I have a Rex Rabbit who has had the classic pink calluses in the back of his heels for a long time now. They are healthy pink and kept under control with blue kote when tgry start to get a little red after running around in our carpet for a while. However, i noticed the past week that he also seems to have what looks exactly like those pinl calluses in his front feet too. They aren’t sore hocks, but I am concerned if anyone else has experienced this before. His play pen gas a plush soft blanket with foam play mats under for flooring, his large cage has a snoozy mat which js soft but not too plush and he doesnt spend a bunch of time sitting in the litter box, so what is causing this?! Does not look like like any kind of fungal/infection at all just little hair wear on his front toes exactly like what you see on their heels. A flap of fur over the pink area. One thing he does do, which i am wondering could be the culprit, is dig at his hay feeder through the bars on his cage. I have put the hay in a bowl inside his cage now so that he will stop digging like that. And can just eat his hay freely.
I guess my question is…has anyone else had this with their rex? I know it sounds kind of like sore hocks…but they definitely are not bloody or red.
