        Hey everyone!

I just moved into a new place and I have 4 roommates. They are fine with Kraken and Jitterbug (who are finally bonded) as long as they stay in my room. The only thing is I don’t have a ton of space. They have an expen set up but they are used to practically having an entire carpeted apartment to explore and binky down the halls. Another issue is that my room (and the entire house) is hardwood. I have them on a rug now with a fleece blanket over it. The problem is that they really don’t have a playtime area. Kraken used to love having playtime and being let out to explore. Now they don’t have that option really. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I could possibly get more rugs and move some of the stuff out of my room but it still is just a small room.

Another question, I was thinking of getting like a cat bed with a cover top like this

I know that bunnies like to have two exits so is it completely not acceptable for this to be their hidey house/bed? There are some really cute ones like a shark where the mouth is the hole… I was just wondering because my room looks kind of crazy with cardboard boxes and stuff. I might post some pictures of my set up if that helps give advice.

It is totally great for a bed! it looks big, so that should be good. My house is hardwood too. The bittom of the xpen is a tarpulin with a blanket ontop. I have a lounge area in there for him, which is a highchair top, with a fuzzy blanket, and his favorite towel. The only solution i can think of to the playtime area is to buy 2-5 xpens, hook them up in a big space and cover the floor with blankets and toys. maybe even try to get a towel hanging. my bunny loves attacking towels.

I have a cat bed like that for one of my bunnies, and she loved it. She actually licked it and groomed it like it was her friend. We have taken it away though, because she started to rip the fur our from inside it and was eating it. If you got one made of a material that wasn’t fuzzy I’m sure it would be perfect

looks cute! I got some beds for my bunnies but they seemed to think it was their litter box and I had to take the cute bed away.

I am somewhat lucky in my house because we have carpet throughout, except in the kitchen and bathroom. My Bibble does like to explore the kitchen some, but only gets to run around the house under supervision because of a canine companion we have.

As for the bed, we started out with just a cardboard box with a baby’s receiving blanket in it. When the box started getting damaged we moved Bibble into a large Timothy hay bungalow with his blanket. He loves it! And I don’t worry about him making a snack of it. Bibble is still little, but considers his blankets special. I got him the soft organic cotton ones, and made sure to wash them well before giving them to him. He has only piddled on them once, though I do wash them regularly as he still has a little bit of poo accidents on occasion. He’s still litter training, but at only 9 weeks old, I consider it a win. ?

Any chance you could post a pic of your set up and the room arrangement so that we can better try to offer up suggestions?

Since they like exploring and you don’t have the luxury of floor space anymore, go vertical. Buy a 2 story maze if you don’t have one. Change it up with tunnels. Maybe one day, give them more space to binky, then the next day can be hidey houses and tunnels (the foldable kind). Perhaps you could build a second level into the expen with wood. I have seen this done before, and it actually works.

I made a multi story cage:
                      http://cherylk.ca/blog/2016/06/10/building-rabbit-cage/

I have measuring documents, diagrams, and shopping list if you want to see them

I live in an apartment and don’t have many tools, ie. If I can do it so can you!

Thanks for the tips guys! We actually did have a 3 story cage built in our last apartment for Kraken but Jitterbug likes to be on ground level and refuses to jump on anything or go up a ramp so we don’t have it set up in our new apartment because Kraken and Jitters are now bonded. Here are a few pictures of their current set up:

The box in the far back corner has two litter boxes in it. It helps keep the hay from spreading through out my room/the entire house.

This is a tiny little sunroom off of my room that the bunnies can go into. It’s super small but they can hang there if they want to.

Here is the old three story cage we built for Kraken. He also had the run of our entire apartment when we were home which I can’t do in our new house.

That looks like quite a lot of room if you ask me It may be small compared to what they used to get, but it in itself is not small by any means. Having the condo would be my suggestion to add space but if they don’t use it like you mentioned, then there’s really not much point.

Ha ha I guess relative to most bunnies they have a lot of space. Thanks for making me feel better about my situation! I just feel bad they can’t run and binky as much. Kraken has been super lazy lately so I’m going to have to introduce some new toys for him I think! Jitters binkied into a wall yesterday so she is feeling happy…. and you can guess why we call her Jitters…..
