mmmm….photoshopped?  Can’t recall where I saw this image but there was also a link to a video.  A news report from Brazil (?) on a cat and rabbit household that had a litter with some strange looking kittens. Supposed Cat/Rabbit offspring.  They had footage of a couple cats that kind of hobbled in the hind section and had a short tail.   An urban Mif,  me finks!   More likely these cats had some sort of genetic deformity.

There was an anime show (Tenchi, maybe?) that had cabbits and they were freaking adorable!

TRUE STORY! I was in Tractor Supply a year ago buying bunnie stuff and was approached by a young woman with 2 small kids. She was asking me about feeding cats and rabbits and all. Then she whispers in my ear that her brother-in-law has bought her a rabbit that was mated with a cat and it was going to have CABBITS shortly.

I was trying not to hurt her feelings but tell her that that AIN’T possible, but she said her BIL had found these rare cats on the internet and showed her the photos. Her rabbit was due to give birth in a week or 2 and she was concerned about how long it would be before the cabbits would be old enough to sell.

I kid you not, swear and cross my heart.

Sorry, the Cabbit that digx put pictures up about. In the anime series, it can turn from a fluffy lil guy that can sit on your shoulder into a huge interstellar spacecraft.

Thanks for explaining, I’m not that familiar with anime, actually what I’ve heard about it has been at this site (!) even though it has been around forever – apparently.           Huh! My not knowing kinda makes me the oddball.  :o)

Years and years ago there was an actual professor at a university here that contact the media because he had PROOF of inter-species mating, because he had found a cabbit in the wild.

It was a tailless manx cat.

For those not familiar with manx cats, they tend to have longer back legs than normal and they do hop a little bit sometimes, kind of like a rabbit. My family has had them years. This isn’t one of ours, just a pic I found online.

But how an educated person could look at it and say hey this is a cross between a cat and a rabbit is beyond me.

Not too mention they don’t have the same number of chromosomes (or anywhere near close enough to hybrid) besides the basic predator/prey systems being so far apart….I know *head desk* !!!

I shared in Beka’s thread, my bro’s gfs’ mom thinks they are real and was worried their cat and rabbit would mate….

Of course, this doesn’t keep some bunnies from mounting cats just to show them who’s boss.  Ten seconds of searching on youtube will probably pull up all sorts of examples….

I love the mousy-bun piccy…but I have a hard enough time convincing my cats that the rabbits are NOT something to chase and eat…much less poke in the rump to see what it does. >.< I could just see bringing something like THAT home….oh noooo….. *shakes head*

We had some kittens at the shelter and Guss had to hump them-never seen that look at on a kittens face before
