So here’s the story, I have been looking for a Holland lop breeder since we have no shelters with rabbits in my area and they’re seen as outside barn animals here. I found a purebred Holland lop breeder that I I really like but figured out  just now that it is an acquaintance of a sorta kinda friend and I’m not sure how awkward it’ll be for me to purchase a lop from her. We’ve already talked via Facebook and I’m 95% sure that she doesn’t recognize me (my name).

So how do I go about purchasing a lop from her without making it awkward so I tell her now or when I go to pick it up?

You could rescue a bun online. On websites like Craiglist etc., people advertise buns that they can no longer care for, and a lot of the time those buns become snake food. By looking online, you can rescue a bun without supporting pet stores or breeders. There are so many buns out their who need homes!

I don’t think it will be awkward, just when you see her say something like oh aren’t you friends with so & so? Or you could send her a message saying, I just realized you may be friends with a mutual friend, do you know X? She may be feeling the same 🙂 It sounds like you are very loose acquaintances at best and if anything she may be happy to have one of her buns go to someone she knows on some level.

I am generally pro adopt, but I do realize in some areas of the world this isn’t as easy. Hopefully you have asked all the hard questions about how she cares for her buns and such already. If nothing else it will help you know if you need to watch out for health issues with your bun in future.
