Burnt whiskers don’t pose a health issue and they should grow back normal.  If the heater gets that warm you should put up something around it to prevent a skin burn in the future- you should be able to make something out of NIC cubes to block off rabbit access but still allow heat thru.

Poor Hershey – at least the whiskers are the sensors so she didn’t receive any further burns. They’re just too darn curious sometimes!

is it ok to trim the white bits off? or should i just leave them…

Personally I’d leave them. They might come off when she grooms herself anyway, but leaving them longer is probably to her benefit. They might still function as they’re meant to.

I think it’s OK to leave them. Definitely make a protective barrier around the heater _ NIC cubes are a great idea. Let us know if you need any help with that.

Poor little thing! I agree, a barrier is a good idea.

Oh I see! I was thinking one of those metal wall radiators (do people even use those anymore? Maybe just in older homes?) I’m glad she’s doing okay!

Me too, Beka. I had several in my apartments in Stockbridge and Lenox, but they were converted older homes.

That’s much better naz. She probably looks cute with those whiskers. Any pix?

It’s ironic that your bunny is black, otherwise it would be hardly noticeable.
As long as Hershey isn’t hurting from it, it’s kind of cute looking now.

oh no – poor bun – I have to admit I giggled a little bit though when you said he sniffed the heater…darn bunny curiousity!

Its been over 100 degrees the past few days here in Texas and I can’t even imagine using a heater right now, its so odd to think how it is winter for you right now.
