Firstly, I hope your son is alright. It’s never fun to get your skin punctured. However, in my experience rabbits don’t usually scratch in an aggressive manner unless they’re being held, and even then they’re not really “scratching” so much as struggling to get away and flailing their limbs. Could you maybe explain the situation in more detail? E.G., did the rabbit stand on its hind feet to get to your son’s face, or was he lying down? Your description is a bit vague, and it seems very strange that a rabbit would, unprovoked, scratch so hard as to draw blood. The only time I’ve ever actually had the skin broken by one of my bunnies was when Monty, who needed his nails trimmed very badly, used my arm as a launch pad to jump out of my grasp. Please don’t be too hard on the rabbit until you’ve figured out exactly what happened.

I just noticed that you had posted this already in another post, and everyone else seems to have given you some sound advice. That post was clearer, but I still feel like there might be some information missing. Were you watching when this happened? Also, going to a vet is a good idea– you should get the bunny spayed.
