Hi all, I am just a 1 month old bunny mom. My boy’s name is coffee. He is just 3 months old so not neutered yet. He had a pretty good litter box habits before. Recently I let him free roam in my living room after I get back from work everyday. So that I can have more time to play with him and he gets to run around.  He seems very happy about this free roam time. And I also taught him to use the other litter box that I put in my living room. He accept that really well! (I am so proud of him!) .

But now the thing is,  he is used to use the litter box in the living room, and he gradually tend to not use the litter box in his cage. I found him peeing outside the litter box in the cage.  And this behavior is getting worse.  For these 2 days, he started to hold his poops and pees ALL NIGHT!!  He wait for me to let him out so that he can pee in the outside litter box, and of course poops everywhere …( He accepts to pee in the litter box, but he poops outside, I think pooping outside can be solved after he is neutered right?)

So, anyone has the same experience? I want some help! Should I keep him inside his cage so he start to use the litter box inside again? Thank you! Any advice would be appreciated!

Perhaps you could swap the two litter boxes once a day, so he remembers? So if you move the outside litter box into the cage with him when you put him away, it will smell like a litter box and hopefully he’ll start using it again.

What’s the bedding like in his cage?

Pooping will probably get better once he’s neutered, but its still worth picking them up and putting them in the litter box now.

Maybe you are right! It sounds worth a try. His cage is a large plastic cage, and he does not have a bedding. For the litter box I use paper bedding. I will try switch them and see how he’s doing..
