So we took our 3 year old Dutch, who is a rescue, to a vet to be neutered a little while back. The vet couldn’t find his testicles, or any scrotal sack, so we just assumed she wasn’t a very bunny savvy vet. Anyway, today we took him to a vet who was super confident with rabbit care, and she couldn’t find any testicles either. She started to talk to us about him being female, but couldn’t tell. All in all she spent half an hour researching and inspecting poor Howie’s parts, and she can’t tell what he is. He definitely has a penis, and displays male behaviour like spraying, especially around my boyfriend. And yet it also looks like he has a vagina, the vet could see both, and so could I! She has organised a few more bunny specialists to come check him out, but has anyone else seen or heard of anything like this?
And does anyone know how it could affect him bonding wise? He’s a very needy and affectionate bun, and we rescued him single anday lonely and we really wanted to find him a mate. He gets so lonely we can’t leave him alone. Does anybody have any ideas or experience in this field?

This is actually relatively common in rabbits I believe. I’ve linked to another BB thread on it that might be useful

          https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/148708/Default.aspx

I think they can do an ultrasound to see if he/she has a uterus, before opening up for a spay. I don’t see why they couldn’t take out what was there anyway, whether thats internal testicles/part of a uterus.

In the other thread someone said that intersex rabbits weren’t fertile, which makes sense, but don’t take my word for it!

As for bonding, I guess it depends on how hormonal he was. If the other bunny was spayed/neutered, it might be doable.

Since hes a three year old rescue, its very possible hes already been neutered.
