Thumping is usually due to either annoyance or fear. Whimpering could be a sign of mild annoyance, displeasure, submissiveness, fear, etc. My guess is that he is a bit displeased with his towel or has been frightened by something.
When he starts thumping and whining, look around to see if there is anything that could have frightened or annoyed him. Does he do this often?
Hm, it’s hard to read if he’s happy or displeased. He usually binkies and runs in circles during this playtime. First, he would grab a corner of the towel. Then he will start to drag it around the room and circle around my feet so that i can in turn throw the towel onto his back. Once the towel is on his back, he’ll do a whimper & a thump and run in circles until the towel is off. I’m only assuming that he enjoys this because he continuously does it for days and days (he’s never gotten tired of it). Maybe i’m assuming wrong and he actually does hate the towel… what do you think?
