        Good morning,

I posted a couple days ago about my bunny who has been dealing with an upper respiratory infection for a couple weeks, and how she doesn’t like the taste of the anise Critical Care.

Yesterday the apple/banana flavor came in my mailbox, but she’s still not interested!  I will keep giving it to her, though as often as possible since it’s got lots of nutritional value.  I have a couple tests that I’m waiting to hear back from the vet about, but he said the problem isn’t my bunny’s teeth.  She is a geriatric bunny (she is a mini rex / netherland dwarf mix who is 8 years old) and has lost a lot of weight since this illness.

Any tips about what your older buns LOOOVE to eat that is good nutritionally for them, too?  She loves the bit of banana that I give her with her antibiotic, and she has also been eating green leaf lettuce readily, along with some hay and her pellets.  I am working with the vet to discuss the whole situation, and in the meantime my bunny needs to keep eating, of course!

Your delicious/nutritious food suggestions are happily welcomed.

        Thanks in advance

          I would up her pellets.

I have 3 seniors as well and one of them has dental problems and just wanted to eat pellets at one time and the vet said feed her what she wants – she had been pellet free before.

I also find that they all love the Oxbow treats and I do feed them a generous dose of those treats.

I say if she eats the pellets try those pelleted Critter Be Better from American Pet Diner.

Have you tried any kale or any fragrant herbs?

Thanks for the tips.  I’ve actually been adding a little water to her pellets because she likes to eat them that way lately, so I’ll keep doing that. Oxbow has a lot of good products it seems!  I will hop on their website today and look at getting her those treats you’ve had luck with.

I’ve not yet looked up Critter Be Better, but will do that today as well.  Is that something like Critical Care with extra nutrients?

Kale is on the top of my shopping list, and I’ll bring her some home this evening.  What else is extra fragrant and delicious for buns?

            Thank you!

It’s APD’s version of Critical Care but it comes in a pelleted form as well as the powder form.

My rabbits like mint and basil – some of them like dill as well. Try those.

That’s great, thank you!  Do you find they like the powder or pellets better?

I wish I could try small samples of these different food brands & products until I found the one or two that she loves!

I think if you are having problems syringe feeding the powder the pellets are the way to go because your rabbit is already familiar with those and eats them already. When I’ve used the Critter Be Better pellets I’ve had no problems with my rabbits eating them….they don’t know it’s good for them I guess :~)
