So I was wondering if any of you have trained your buns to do “tricks” and if so what kind of things you guys have taught them to do?  I didn’t see any other threads like this one, but if there is I do apologise!

Yesterday I started to train my new bunny Belle to A) actually like to be near me and B) come to her name when I call.  Today when I let her out the cage she hopped right out instead of being hesitant which was a pleasant surprise and now she’s already coming to her name!  I’ve only been feeding her a food pellet (taken from her daily allowance) every time she comes near me and saying her name when she takes it so there are no fattening treats involved and it’s already working!  I had no idea rabbits were so easy to train.  I just called her from across the room and she came bounding over quite the thing.  Had to share my news with someone (my mum is fed up with bunny talk) and since I’m new to all this I find it very exciting!  Can’t wait to start getting her to do other neat things.  So yeah, what do your bunnies do?

I have a video of Mr. Hopper walking on his hind legs in the lounge, it was fun teaching him to do it.

I taught Hunny ‘Up’… when i’m sitting on the floor with her I pat my chest & say “up” and she hops up on my lap & now that she’s allowed in the livingroom, when I pat the couch or foot stool & say “up” she hops right up and she’s so good that she won’t get on the couch unless I say it then she knows it’s ok to be on the couch.

Pacey knows his name and to “play dead” aka flop.

Dini is deaf so I taught him hand signals similar to my deaf ferret. He has one for his name and one for no and one for “beg” where he stands up on his hind feet.

thats how I started with teaching Mr. Hopper to walk is by sitting up, then standing, then leading him with the treat

I taught my bunny Milo a few tricks. I already posted this video on another thread that was similar to this one, but it seems there are lots of new BB members joining recently! Great! Sorry the room is so ugly haha, I would train him in my walk-in closet cause I didn’t care so much for the carpet in there (in case he had any accidents and such). I trained him with cranberries and pellets. In the video he is getting bits of a rabbit bar thing my local pet store gave me.

                          here’s the video:

I really think it was Milo who made doing the tricks possible. He was really easy to train, he learned spin with just a hand signal in about 15 minutes. He seems to have a need to learn new things. I pretty much just got him to go through the motions of the tricks by guiding him with treats and once he did what I wanted he would get the treat. For getting him to jump through my arms I started with one arm on the ground and led him with a treat over it (not a comfortable position to kneel in haha). As he began to understand what I wanted him to do I raised my arm higher and higher. Once he got the jumping part I started not using my other arm to guide him and put it up to make a circle and he knew what to do when my arms made that shape. He seems to understand hand signals better than my voice.
