        i was clipping lulla’s nails today and she sort of fell into a deep bunny trance, which was good for me cutting her nails. her head kept falling back and she was totally out. i thought that since she was so tranced out i would try to get them better cut so i spent a little more time doing her nails. i kept petting her head and talking to her while i was doing it, but it dawned on me that maybe i shouldnt keep her in that state as long as i was. i was wondering if it was okay to keep them in a trance for a few minutes? im not really sure what causes them to go into a trance, maybe blood rushing to the brain….i didint think of that while i was doing her nails. at least she got a nice manicure and pedicure

          I believe they trance because they are automatically playing dead, and they become very relaxed. You can think of it as more of a psychological state then a physical one.

          The reasoning behind it is, they are caught by a predator, fighting back is no good, so play dead, predator drops you, you run off;

          Typically you can tell if a rabbit is very nervous during a trance; Mine are; I’ve met one bunny who loved being tranced and having his tummy rubbed. If lulla wasn’t distressed by being tranced (didnt’ run off foot flicking and stomping) then your probably fine to do it to her. I wouldn’t do it for hours but by all means a few minutes should be fine! I think stress is why you want to avoid doing it for extended periods or quite often…

          If you want, go on youtube and use the keywords ‘a very unusual bunny’ there are some great videos this lady did of funny things her bunny does; including very relaxed trancing.

                lol… yeah it’s stinky but tolerable.  i actually find picking up dog poop to be more offensive… peeeeeyuuuuu!

                i looove the ‘very unusual bunny’ vids on youtube!  they’re so cute   i can’t trance baby for very long… she comes out of them with a *bang* at any given moment so i’d def not try clipping her nails that way.  you’re so lucky lulla trances that way!  good to know it’s not dangerous if it does not seem to stress them out.
