        Hello,
My bunny will be 6 months on December 17. She is not spayed; we live in a remote area with no access to someone that can perform this surgery. She was fully potty trained and was doing amazing. She has access to the house and we stopped putting her in her cage because she was doing so well. We have a litter box that she was using religously in our hallway. All the sudden she started peeing outside her litter box. It started with her just doing it at night in the living room near our couch. She is now peeing and pooping a lot in different areas. I did change the litter type from carefresh to a pellet form of litter and I also put in a grate at the bottom to help keep the litter inside. Maybe this is the reason she is doing this? She pees and poos in the litter box in the morning when she eats her pellets, but after that she seems to just be going anywhere. Today, I put her in her cage because I read to confine her space; she did not like this at all. We also plan on getting another litter box for the living room (where she seems to pee and poop the most). Any ideas or suggestions?

The biggest cause is because she’s not spayed. Buns going through puberty can lose their once perfectly good litter habits. I wished I had actual advice to give you, but I have one angel bun who consistently uses the box, and one naughty bun who insists on always pooping next to the box, even when you move it to the spot he was pooping in

You need to find a vet to have her spayed for health reasons. But yes as Asriel said, the cause could be puberty. Or it could be the change in litter. It could be both.

Unfortunately, like I stated earlier. We live in a remote area that does not have the service to have her spayed. The lady I bought her from breeds and she said she never spays her buns. I guess I’ll just have to keep trying. Thanks for the prompt responses.

It would be worth switching back to the carefresh to see if she is protesting the feel of the pellet + grate combo.

Not just getting spayed either, but with any health issues your bun may develop in the future. You need to make sure you have a good bun savvy vet. I know for a fact Bombur would have died a few months ago if I had taken him to a normal vet. I travel two hours to see one. The House Rabbit Society has a list of vets. Maybe you’ll have some luck on that site.
